Seeing these pics reminds me a bit of the 80's when most of the newer skyscrapers were built in Dallas. This is the most activity I've seen since then.

I've been skyscraper fan since way back but since finding this forum, I am stunned to see so many huge projects actually being built.

I took these on Tuesday in downtown/uptown Dallas. I need help on some of the names below as I saw no signs. Both are new cranes on the sites next to the Rolex Building and the Precept building. The first one is a two crane shot of the Mandarin construction site. The first crane is finished and they were building the second one when I drove by.

Here's one of the Uptown area from the AFI parking lot. I don't know the names of the newer towers in front of the Crescent.

Here's a shot of the W from the same lot.

The Azure a few blocks away, then two cranes that had no signs. Both look to be high rises. Anyone know which ones?

One Arts Center. I am not sure I like this one yet. I guess I'll wait 'til all three are built and see.

Finally a couple of the Hunt tower. I love this one's curved front.

"Commuters at DART's West End rail station will have a ringside seat for the latest downtown construction project.

Irving-based developer JPI Inc. has broken ground on an apartment and retail building on the half-block adjacent to the transit hub.

Called West End Station, the five-story building will have 146 apartments and about 12,500 square feet of ground-floor retail.

Construction of the building, which takes its design cues from historic warehouses in the area, is scheduled for completion in August 2008. The apartments are expected to rent for about $1.50 per square foot.

Corgan Architects designed the building, which also faces Ross Avenue and Lamar Street.

New Galleria IV tower proposed. Should be 18 stories and have retail on ground and mezzanine levels. It replaces the proposed Galleria condo towers that didn't sell well.

"Developers have broken ground on the biggest residential building yet in Dallas' Uptown neighborhood.

The 375-unit Alta Rosewood residential tower is being constructed a block from the Crescent by Atlanta-based Wood Partners and the California Public Employees' Retirement System, or Calpers. The 22-story tower is one of a handful of such projects going up in the same neighborhood and will be ready for residents in late 2008.

Located at McKinnon and Hunt streets, the glass-clad apartment building is being built near the southern entrance to the Dallas North Tollway. And it's next door to Rosewood Property Co.'s office tower project at Cedar Springs Road and Pearl Street......"

".....A 425-space parking garage, outdoor pool and fitness center will be on the lower levels of the project. The building was designed by Atlanta-based architect Preston Partnership...."

Indications are pointing towards a new design for Museum Tower possibly 42-stories high in the Arts District of downtown Dallas. The original plan was about 20-stories, the ground breaking never happened last fall. Their web site has taken down the renderings of the 20-story tower. Some kind of an announcement is to take place in the next four weeks.

Oh, and the word on the street is that the Museum Tower (in the Arts District) is slated to be closer to 42 stories - or possibly even taller.
