I find the new stadium well... underwhelming. looks like an updated version of the current stadium in Irving. And reminds me way too much of the Cardinals stadium in Glendale.

so overall i give it a /meh

I'm pretty sure a "modern" Texas Stadium was the point. Though its old and rusty, Texas Stadium is a great place to catch a game. The roof is one of the more distinctive features in US sports. They should be trying to mimic it instead of wasting steel on a bird's nest. And yes, its similar to Phoenix, but bigger without the Barrel Cactus/Coiled Snake thing going on and symmetry inside. Looks like the concourses will be 50x better too. Excellent job by all involved. Not too out there where it will be ugly in 5 years and not too conservative like its neighbor.

I really like this new stadium design. It is a lot better than the old proposal I saw a while back (sorry, I don't have any photos to post for comparison). The old proposal had a large flat awkward looking oval roof that retracted at an odd angle (trust me it was bad). As a long-time Cowboys fan, I really like the way this design has a striking modern look but also retains the "hole in the roof" concept like Texas Stadium. I also like those huge glass doors that open at the end zones. For those of us who plan on seeing the stadium in person someday, I really like those huge video displays that hang down from the roof. There won't be a bad seat in the house with those bad boys!

Okay, sorry if it's already been posted (I looked around on this thread, but couldn't find anything about it), but what is going to happen to the old stadium in Irving once the new stadium is completed?

The 900 ft. Block TU Tower for Fort Worth is officially dead. XTO Energy purchased the site and plan to put a parking lot on it. The project had already been scaled back to a 30 story building, but now it won't happen at all.

Developer starts planning its next number in booming Arts District
11:26 PM CST on Thursday, January 11, 2007

By STEVE BROWN / The Dallas Morning News

Developer Billingsley Co. – whose Arts Plaza project in the Arts District was the first office building started in downtown in almost 20 years – is already working on plans for a second building.

Brokers representing the builder are pitching the project to potential tenants who would fill the 18-story building to be constructed at Woodall Rodgers Freeway and Routh Street.

Brokers are already pitching Billingsley Co.’s building at Two Arts Plaza to potential tenants who would fill the 18-story building planned for Woodall Rodgers Freeway and Routh Street.

At 442,000 square feet, the new building will be similar in size to One Arts Plaza but will contain no residential space. Like the first building, Two Arts Plaza has been designed by Dallas architects Morrison Seifert Murphy.

Construction of the $125 million One Arts Plaza is scheduled for completion later this year.

Office tenants in the building include law firm Thompson & Knight and 7-Eleven Inc.

When Billingsley Co. announced plans for the first building in early 2005, it was the first office tower planned downtown since the 1980s.

Several office buildings are now under way on either side of Woodall Rodgers, and construction is also under way on a new performing arts center in the Arts District.

"With the construction of several world-class architectural projects under way at once, our job is becoming easier every day," said Joel Pustmueller with Peloton Real Estate Partners, which markets the office space in One Arts Plaza.

"The master plan of the Arts District is literally unfolding before your eyes."
