There was nothing much said, Cold was just bluffing, though he brought out renderings of stationlands, much of it has been seen on this forum before. People took lots of pictures of these, so Im sure it will show up on here soon enough.

Board approves new gas turbines for Clover Bar
Mothballed plant will be reopened with new units to handle peak electricity demand
The Edmonton Journal
Published: Saturday, December 16, 2006
EDMONTON - A $245-million revival of Epcor Utilities Inc.'s mothballed Clover Bar generating station is scheduled to begin early next year under a project approved Friday by the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board.

The city-owned power company said construction will start at the northeast Edmonton site in late March if Alberta Environment also grants approval on time.

Epcor plans to install three new, natural gas-fired generating units at Clover Bar between 2007 and 2010. Four obsolete gas units are being dismantled. The new turbines will provide total electricity supplies of about 240 megawatts. They are being built as "peaking power" units for periods when power demand surges to daily and seasonal highs.

Font: ****"These electricity generating units are ideal for meeting Alberta's need for power during peak periods of the day," Epcor vice-president Jim Oosterbaan said in a statement announcing AEUB approval of the installations.

"They take just 10 minutes to go from start-up to full load, which gives us the flexibility we need to respond to sudden changes in supply and demand."

Alberta power consumption is rising with the population and economy. A new winter demand peak record of 9,661 megawatts was set on Nov. 28, up from the previous high of 9,580 megawatts hit in 2005.

The new generators will also improve the Clover Bar station's environmental performance by reducing air emissions and using 85-per-cent less water per megawatt of power than the original units, Epcor said.
