The one in Breathless (1983)? That’s Rodeo Drive in here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3164534807204454/posts/3989869028004357/

A mystery vantage point.

I just happened upon this on eBay
a few minutes ago.

eBay

note the balcony and part of a building along the left edge of the foto.

The back simply says. . . .

............................"Looking out over L.A."

A mystery location.

Capitol Brush Company designed by Sidney Eisenshtat. Photo taken in 1947.

Hopefully we haven't seen this before.

It’s usually near impossible to narrow down the location of where people picking fruit in photos might be located. Here’s a C.C. Pierce collection shot that gives us something more to work with and helps explain why he also had an image of the related packing house on Santa Monica Boulevard west of Weyse/Vine: https://calisphere.org/item/7aa293a50a7997064e3820d36b3ec4f1/

Note the fruit crate on the top right which seems to read CAHUENGA VALLEY LEMON EXCHANGE and then COLGROVE CALIF——>>

The photo cropped for the crate detail..

sourced calisphere as above.

So that’s one definite image of the citrus origins in old Colgrove.

The left window is reflecting a C???? Camera Exchange. The right windows are reflecting some buildings that would help confirm the location. There were some shops like this around the corners of the side streets along Hollywood Blvd. where you could get blacklight posters and such in the later ‘60’s.

GSV isn't letting you get near that place. In fact, a whole section around that area is blocked, including Santa Monica Blvd. from Camden to Rodeo, north to Park Way.

Here's a flyer for Bizarre Bazaar giving the address as 6514 Selma Avenue. I could only find a listing in the 1967 CD.

Still standing at 1646 S Vermont Avenue. I think this is a Julius Shulman photo.

They managed to destroy the beauty of a very handsome building--especially via what they did to the upper portion.

I completely agree. It hasn't changed much since the earliest GSV in 2008, so I don't know when the damage was done.

Interesting before and after, riichkay.

And thanks, HossC for answering my question about Bizarre Bazaar & Capitol Brush Co.

In this undated image I'm confused by THE FLY billboard with its specific time of day.

JOEY TRANCHINA

Is it advertising a Channel 7 television broadcast of the movie, The Fly? (1958)

JOEY TRANCHINA

Laura Nyro was a prolific song writer. I had a cd of hers that I listened to often.

Here are two of her best known songs sung by The Fifth Dimension.

Wedding Bell Blues

Stoned Soul Picnic
