At least if it works out financially, it proves Midtown is ready for projects of this scale. Maybe we'll get a better one next cycle.
Yeah, since the great recession we've transitioned from garage-separated structures (Skyhouses, AMLI Arts Center) and park-under 5-over-1s (Spectrum on Spring, the Hanover building at 10th/West Peachtree) to park-under mixed-use megablock structures (Midtown Union, The Hue Midtown as it's now called, the thing with Google--I can't keep up with the names).

This at least brings us into an entirely different form, where the mixed uses are stacked rather than side by side in a megablock.

I thought the top was going to have a lighting scheme?

This appeared 2 nights ago. I'm hoping this is just the initial phase of what was said to be a dramatic lighting scheme. At this point it looks rather amateurish.

Great, it looks like it might wrap around the entire top?

I suppose it would if there was an entire top to wrap around. The 'crown' is only on the east and west sides because clearly the building is only viewed from those two sides. Anyone who dares to look from the north and south sides gets a great view of the rooftop mechanicals. I wonder if there's a logical reason for this.

4 strings of rope lights bought off Amazon are a perfect completion to this building. Jokes aside, I pray to god these are temporary and not the final product.

Saw that this morning and was extremely perplexed. It looks like it was obtusely stuck on top and not part of the building. Don't get the single side crown, but the "illumination" $hit looks almost like a cheap billboard under construction......or.....hell...... I don't know what. The zoom in makes it look different than at eye street level but both are terrible.

I almost just have to laugh. They can't be serious. Just take the damn lights down and don't bring any more attention to the abomination at the top of that building. It truly looks incomplete when driving down the connector.
