The BC Conservatives have a long-running reputation for being trash. You'd of asked me about this ten years ago and it was still the same:
"They cannot keep face for long enough to win an election. They can barely get enough seats to be the opposition."
I mean they are the opposition right now but the point still stands that they simply cannot keep it together because the core beliefs are so awful, even the more center-right folks can't stand them.

The BC Liberals would have probably had some sort of resurgence had they take then loss to heart and made a few adjustments in their platforms. They instead panicked at being associated with Justin Trudeau and totally imploded.

The only alternative now is to build a party from scratch that has no brand recognition which is a daunting task.

This really sucks because the NDP has overstayed their welcome and have no qualified persons that have any understanding of the economy.

IMO the BC Conservatives don't have the wherewithal to effectively serve as an alternative to the NDP and to hold them accountable. They're just their own brand of kooky.

Findlay, obviously, is claiming it's a smear campaign. It's gonna be really goddamn weird if she doesn't win that seat.

I think it was pretty obvious that sh!t would eventually hit the fan when Findley touted " faith family and freedom" in her victory speech. Every knows this is code for culture war.

she should of said, "economy, budgets and health care". Stick to the topics people actually care about.

She apparently actually did appoint someone. On Monday Findlay appointed Reann Gasper as her new deputy chief of staff—one day after the Abbotsford-Mission MLA agreed to resign her seat so Findlay could run there in a byelection. The Canadian Criminal Code forbids selling an appointment or resignation from elected office in exchange for a reward or profit.

And Both Ian Paton and Rosalyn Bird said they were made a similar offer; Paton from her Chief of Staff, and Bird from her - which she's denying, of course. "Bird refused in July to vacate her seat so Findlay, who lives in Surrey, could run in a byelection. “She was very angry,” Bird said of the resulting conversation, describing it as “an outburst” or “tantrum” by Findlay. “She yelled at me, told me I was being selfish, told me this was about a bigger picture, then she hung up. The conversation was less than a minute.”

There's a leaked tape of the July caucus, “If someone was willing to step aside, I could give them a role as senior advisor in their same portfolio so they are very much involved and around,” Findlay said in the recording, posted online by another anonymous X account." [source]

Unwilling to concede any ground, Findlay issued a statement Thursday calling it “a weak attempt at a political smear job” and “nothing more than normal political discussions.”

Rob Shaw is reporting "More MLAs are expected to resign over the weekend. And there’s the potential for a mass exodus of as many as 10-12 more on Monday, the day of a caucus meeting. Losing that many MLAs could cost the Findlay Conservatives their official Opposition status in the legislature, should the newly independent conservatives band together under a new party. The sheer scale of that departure would financially cripple the Conservative caucus, starving it of the money needed to pay the many new (and controversial) Conservative staffers Findlay has hired."
