Thanks for answering my question, HossC.

The websites I visited say the building was demolished but the current building definitely looks like the same building, even the window treatments are the same. (small- vertical)

The zigzags were only added around 2017. I looked through the images at Historic Aerials, and the building seems to have been the same since the '70s.

I'm trying to read the large sign on the front of this Date souvenir stand in Palms Springs, circa: 1960s. If I'm not mistaken it says something about Sex.

I wonder what Date Crystals are? . . or should there have been an apostrophe -

Is anyone familiar with these high-end malls from the 1970s?

"Pierre Hathaway Enterprises - Black & White - Luxury California Malls"

There's a stamp on the back of each photograph.

From shieldsdategarden.com:
Mr. Shields invented Date Crystals® in 1936. The size of oatmeal flakes, they are much easier to use in cooking than freshly chopped dates. Since our 90th anniversary, we are proud to continue shipping our Date Crystals® and Date Sugar in the same reusable metal tins that Mr. Shields originally used.

I think the first line says "Talking Coloured Picture". They are showing "The Romance & Sex Life of the Date".

The "sex life" must've been added to the "romance of the date" later to gain a wider audience!

Of the mall photos you posted, E_R, I've heard of South Coast Plaza; it's in Costa Mesa.

And Newport Center should locate Fashion Island (see the wiki).

I had no idea Boos Bros. Cafeteria was so extravagantly lit up at night.

It was giving Clifton's Cafeteria a run for its money.

The Tower of Hope at the Diocese of Orange Christ Cathedral. From www.christcathedralcalifornia.org:
Designed by Richard Neutra and his son Dion, the 13-story Tower of Hope first opened in 1968. Named after New Hope Ministries, the building housed the very first 24-hour suicide prevention hotline (714-NEW-HOPE), which continues today under the management of Catholic Charities of Orange County.

In 2013, Tower of Hope underwent an extensive seismic upgrade. It now houses the offices of the Cathedral Parish, as well as EWTN Global Catholic Network and its West Coast television news and broadcast facility. The ninth floor of the tower houses executive office suites for other worldwide Catholic ministries, including Magis Institute and Dynamic Catholic.

Topped by a 90-foot neon-lit cross, Tower of Hope was the tallest building in Orange County when it opened, a distinction it held for more than 10 years. Located on the top floor, the 130-seat ecumenical Chapel in the Sky features panoramic views of Orange County.

This property was built by the televangelist Robert Schuller, including the Tower of Hope and the later Crystal Cathedral that can be seen in HossC's picture. Schuller's "Hour of Power" TV program was made at this campus. Following the ministry's bankruptcy in the 2010s, the campus was purchased by the Diocese of Orange and it became a Catholic church property, with the Crystal Cathedral becoming Christ Cathedral and being thoroughly renovated.

Shield's is the best (> Hadley's when it comes to dates)

When gas was cheap, I'd drive 280mi R/T from LA to Indio of a Date Shake. Worth it.

Have we seen the Niederer Company's building, corner of Jefferson and Main?
