Drove to Market Mall yesterday and they have some premium Mansard fuglies nearby.

There was also an infill with a 100% astroturf yard. The duplex is ugly enough, but there is no up to date streetview of it:

LOL, I'm glad it's not just me that hates it. Apparently it's supposed to represent the Moon! The only good news is there is an empty plot of land on the other side of the channel, maybe one day it will be blocked from view.

I loathe the Eye of Montreal building.

I'll raise you (fair warning, these are ugly mansard townhouses).

The castle of Boullee Street:

Mansard-land, in one of the shittiest (high crime) parts of London. Also on Boullee Street.

Gross, those sort of developments must have ran rampid during the 50's, 60'and 70's. They are throughout the GTA, Hamilton, probably most communities in Ontario that saw post war booms.

I'd like to submit this style of housing to the Ugly thread.

Agreed. That sort of style first took root in the shittier parts of Vancouver metro (Surrey) back in the 90s when I worked there. It has since spread like a cancer to other cities.

Oh it represents a moon alright. Or maybe more of a blackhole…

Maybe it’s the abrupt repetition of the mansard “nose” between garages with windows on either side, but this complex is almost transcendentally ugly in a David Altmejd kind of way. Reminds me of his glitchy repetition sculptures. My favourite Montreal artist whose work in person is absolutely jaw dropping btw.

That name sounds familiar, but in a made up kind of way. Wasn’t there a gang on Seinfeld that Kramer was afraid of with a similar name.

That “castle” looks straight out of a horror movie about urban decay.

Well I did say they were premium mansard fuglies. They at least resemble somewhat the original parisian style roof in the crudest way. As opposed to stuff like Molson posted or the Wickermansard faces from Calgary’s ghettos.

Another style of very ugly social housing found in Calgary:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Calgar..._ep=EgoyMDI2MDgxNy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Calgar..._ep=EgoyMDI2MDgxNy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Calgar..._ep=EgoyMDI2MDgxNy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Calgar..._ep=EgoyMDI2MDgxNy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

And more of the Wickermansards with screaming Easter Island heads:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Calgar..._ep=EgoyMDI2MDgxNy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Calgar..._ep=EgoyMDI2MDgxNy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Calgar..._ep=EgoyMDI2MDgxNy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

And lest anyone accuse me of classism (or whatever Acajack used to say), I live in a townhouse. The above forms are just egregiously ugly and depressing to me. There are equally depressing contemporary versions, but the ones above present a strange and impractical form that I can't understand the thought process behind. Like who needs a weird jenga house with random sections floating as bridges between rooms?
