One interesting thing about "colonial Brits" is they speak closest to the Received Pronunciation ideal and have no regional aspects to their speech. Which probably makes them sound a bit odd in Britain because almost everyone who grew up in Britain (except maybe the late Queen Elizabeth and King Charles?) has some regionalisms in their speech.
