I don’t think this is a comprehensive list of the projects that have been held hostage.

Corrupt mafia regime.

"Now we learn the billionaire owner of a bridge that will compete w/the new Canada-MI bridge met with Lutnick right before Trump issued his threat to shut down the new bridge. The Trump admin is a lawless mafia gangster extortion racket existing to enrich oligarchs at our expense."

Please keep your comments in this thread exclusively about the bridge.

We are not going to relitigate the 2024 election here.

There's already an entire shithole section of this forum dedicated to that.

Not surprised to see Mathew Moroun acting as an instigator the longer the Gordie Howe is closed the longer the Ambassador is the primary crossing point.

Canada struck a deal with China to allow 140,000 EV’s into the country which China is desperate to unload. The government incentives allow automakers to profit even if the cars remain unsold so the factories have been running full tilt. The seas of unsold EV’s have become food for memes. Although the cost cutting process during production of cars that aren’t expected to be sold have led to vehicles on the Chinese domestic market without airbags and other critical safety features.

I mean if all this is a song and dance around striking a new deal on the NAFTA review, El Paso airspace was just closed due to a “cartel drone” I don’t like it but I can live with it. Canada can easily throw out the deal with China as a bargaining chip a piece that Michigan business leaders surely would love to see happen applying pressure indirectly and subtly.

Though I may riot if somehow the Ambassador Bridge Co gets shoehorned into some kind of a bridge deal.

Detroit bridge owner donates $1 million to MAGA PAC before Trump's Gordie Howe Bridge post, records show

By DeJanay Booth-Singleton
February 23, 2026

The owner of the Ambassador Bridge connecting Detroit and Windsor donated $1 million to MAGA Inc., a political action committee supporting President Trump, less than a month before the president threatened to block the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, according to documents from the Federal Election Commission.

Despite the embarrassment coming from the US-side, this incredible bridge opened to vehicular traffic on Monday, July 27, at approximately 12:00 pm.

This bridge ain't playin' around. It is one of the most impressive structures built in the world in the last generation -

The Gordie Howe Bridge is now the longest cable-stayed bridge in the Americas with a mainspan of 2,799 feet. Previous record on this side of the planet was the Atlantic Bridge over the Panama Canal at 1,739 feet. The longest in the US is the Harbor Bridge in Corpus Christi, TX at 1,661 feet. While the Gordie Howe is 1,000+ feet longer than any other cable stayed bridge between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, it falls 1,000+ feet shy of the world record Changtai Yangtze River Bridge in China with a span of 3,858 feet. Worldwide the Gordie Howe is 11th longest, and will drop to 19 in 2030 when those under construction are completed in the next several years.

For real. I included that image just for the stats. But you are right; this project deserves better than that.

They're also having a hard time following correct side driving rules.

LOL. So lazy.

Have a picture of Gordie his wife Colleen with my grandpa & parents smiling on from my bookshelf while I type this. A true gent from everything I've been told he was a family friend from the days my gpa was the team dentist. That trip he invited the fam up to his place in Traverse City. He owned a restaurant up there and some woman who had too much to drink started talking smack being the gent he was took it in stride and was nothing but polite. Nice to see the Howe family getting involved taking the first drive across fitting and a reminder of the ties of family and friendship between our two nations going beyond the political bs of today.
