Charges approved following four random assaults in downtown Vancouver
A 50-year-old man has been charged in connection with four alleged unprovoked assaults that occurred within the span of 30 minutes in downtown Vancouver on Saturday.
Shortly after 2:40 p.m., the suspect entered a business on Homer and Dunsmuir Street and allegedly began demanding money from workers and customers. The man allegedly threw an object, which struck two employees, causing minor injuries.
Immediately following this incident, investigators believe the same man approached a person walking on Beatty Street and asked for money. When the victim declined, the suspect allegedly punched him in the face before fleeing the area. Approximately 10 minutes later, near the intersection of Cambie and Cordova Street, another victim was allegedly punched in the face in an unprovoked attack without any exchange of words.
“These incidents are particularly concerning because they appear to have been completely unprovoked, and none of the victims had any prior interaction with the suspect,” said Constable Megan Lui. “Through extensive video canvassing and proactive patrols in the area, officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest a suspect closely matching the description given by witnesses. We believe there may be additional victims and encourage anyone affected by or who witnessed the incident to come forward and contact the Vancouver Police Department.”
Marc Ledoux, 50, has been charged with:
Two counts of assault
Two counts of assault with a weapon
One count of uttering threats
One count of mischief
Ledoux remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Vancouver Police are releasing an image of a man suspected of assaulting a senior in Kitsilano in the hopes that it leads to an identification.
Police were called on July 31 after a 73-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by an unidentified man near West Broadway and MacDonald Street shortly before 4 p.m. Investigators believe the suspect was yelling at passersby when the victim approached him and asked him to stop yelling and move along.
The two men became involved in a verbal altercation, during which the suspect allegedly pushed the victim to the ground. The victim suffered head injuries as a result of the assault.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man with a medium build. At the time of the incident, he was shirtless, wearing grey shorts and white shoes.
