I assume they meant that YUL is either the 5th busiest transatlantic hub in North America or that it has the 6th busiest international route from North America, both of which are very impressive!

Could be what he meant. YUL handles a lot of international passengers.

But yes. 6th.

According to ACI North America, here is the list of busiest airports by international passengers in 2025:

1. JFK 34.5 M
2. YYZ 30.1 M
3. MIA 24.8 M
4. LAX 22.8 M
5. SFO 15.9 M
6. YUL 15.6 M
7. EWR 15.4 M
8. YVR 13.6 M
9. IAH 12.4M
10. IAD 10.5 M
11. BOS 10 M

Now, ACI doesn't include Mexico in the NA numbers. Mexican airports are counted as part of ACI-Latin America and the Caribbean. However, since Mexico is technically a part of North America (as far as continents go), if we add MEX and CUN to the numbers above, YUL would be in 8th spot, as both MEX (17.4M) and CUN (18-19M) handle more international passengers than YUL.

Still, not too shabby for a "tiny" airport.

It may not look like the biggest airport in the world, but it clearly looks like a fairly major airport. So I honestly just thought they were being ironic when they said it was a tiny. Like someone posts a picture of a major city's skyline and someone says, "Wow look at that quaint little hamlet" or something. A few people mildly chuckle and no one ever thinks of it again.

Porter will be replacing the seat on the entire DH4: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/2...-Travel-With-Modernized-Dash-8-Interiors

Here's hoping the new seats are more comfortable than what replaced the original seats, which are mediocre.

I'd still choose Porter with uncomfortable seats over any other Canadian Carrier. Remember when WestJet used to be good? I find Air Canada to offer a better experience the WestJet lately. I still haven't travelled to BC since Porter got their Brazilian jets, I will pay extra if needed to fly with them this Christmas to Vancouver.

4N are adding YKA as a new destination to their route map next summer with twice weekly YXY-YKA-YVR service: https://www.aeroroutes.com/eng/260724-4nns27yka

Oddly enough though on the return leg, the two segments operate with different flight numbers making YKA-YXY a connection at YVR.

Porter still has the "New Airline Smell" basically; it's in the sweet growth spot of establishing itself and having good service and good value for your buck in general.

WestJet used to be in that position, but once they were big enough, the bean counters took over and "optimized" it to death.

Sadly, Porter likely won't be in this phase for much longer. So enjoy the next few years while you can, then we'll need to wait for another airline to come up and "shake things up" again.

Yes, Porter just now is good.

All the airlines it tends to come in waves. For a time they let the bean counter run the show, focus on getting every penny out as possible. They when the customers don't come back they will switch to being "customer experience" focused.

Porter is leading the way, and Air Canada is following. WestJet is still in the penny pinching mode. With time it will change.

Doesn't Porter already have more seats on the Dash than they debuted with?

Have flown the E95 from Toronto to both San Francisco and Fort Lauderdale in the last year and really enjoyed the Porter Reserve seats (we got row 1 both times). I really wanted to go back and sit in one of the regular rows to see how they fit my 6'5 frame but never got the opportunity. The only real drawback to those flights was the transborder gates at Toronto T3. That partition down the centre really cramps the place.

The DH4s were originally equipped with only 70 seats with rows at 33" or 34" pitch. At the time the DH4 was new to YTZ so it was I think largely done for runway performance. As time went on, they then went to 74 and eventually 78 like most DH4 operators.

Shouldn't Chicago and Dallas be on the list?

Aeroroutes is a few weeks late on this. These were removed in early July along with:

YYC-GDL
YYC-YKF

It also left out that some US routes got increased like:

YYC-SAN
YYC-TPA
YWG-ATL
YYZ-TPA

I wonder if there any other additions/changes expected for this coming winter season yet to come?

And best of all because they’re private you can’t see how much money they’re “making” off it.

10 transborder routes are being cancelled for winter 26/27, but in the case of YVR-LAX WS will codeshare on DL’s new twice daily service.
