Montreal (and Quebec City) does its own thing, but it is closer to being an Eastern Seaboard city than a Great Lakes City.

Yeah, the constant power of the St. Lawrence at Montreal as it drains the vast inland seas of North American is truly awesome.
It's not Great Lakes and it's not East Coast. I agree -- it's an interior river city through and through.
