That brief period of wind a few days ago during the thunderstorm did a number on some trees. Took off a huge branch up the street and the whole tree had to go apparently.

This is great. I'd love to try something like that for the length of one of the local rivers like Sixteen Mile, Bronte, Credit, Etobicoke, Humber, etc. But a one day equivalent. No crazy backwoods trips, just something that I as someone that doesn't really paddle, could do. But would need a partner to do it with.

I recently wasn't too far away from this. Was in neighbouring Scarboro and checked a couple spots I hadn't been to before.

28C with a humidex of 30 and sunny. The dewpoint has definitely been low this July apart from the 2 days humid event.

Low of 17C this morning. A variation of more than 10 degrees in the summer is definitely noticeable and proves the heat is dry.

The warmspot was Sioux Lookout, IN at 38.0C. New high in 2026.

Warmest low yesterday was Gimli (Harbour), MB at 22.2C.

I'm slightly skeptical of that 37 high tomorrow. EC has been slightly overshooting forecasts the last few weeks, although it has nailed the heatwaves. All time record for Pearson in July is 37.9

I think the highest humidex in Canada was posted by you a few years ago. It was 50, in Carman, MB.

Way things are going I bet that gets broken soon.

Side note - my brother is not far from Cypress River and the interior of his vehicle registered 47 degrees yesterday when he went to start it. You need oven mitts to drive in that 🞵🞵🞵🞵.

Crazy weekend of storms in Edmonton. Both Friday and Saturday saw massive storms that caused downed trees and streetlights, and flooding of streets and buildings. The crazy part is, that while I was able to watch both storms go by from my deck, neither of them touched my place in the SE part of the city, save for a very quick downpour on Saturday that lasted maybe a minute.

WE FINALLY HAVE A FULL WEEK OF SUMMER WEATHER IN THE FORECAST! There is a small chance of storms tomorrow and maybe some overnight rain later in the week, but other than that, it should be dry and warm!

24 today, 27, 26, 29, 31, 29, 29, with lows in the mid-to-high teens.

Yesterday was gross in and around Winnipeg. The overnight low in downtown Winnipeg was 26C. I think the airport weather station was one or two degrees less than that.

This you could easily do in the spring in Edmonton on the Blackmud and Whitemud Creeks, another could be Lois Hole Provincial Park on the NW corner of the city. with launch sites on the Sturgeon river in St Albert.

The storms on the weekend did a number on the area with localised flooding and trees down. I saw the clouds for yesterdays storm form above ST Albert and grew quickly within the hour to hit south Edmonton. Hell I just washed the car.

Some shots from Saturday Evening north of Edmonton on the Sturgeon River. Which is usually a trickling weedy creek at this time.

Nikko beat me to it. Crazy to see 40 degrees in that part of the country, and crazy that it is the highest temperature this year.

When was the last time 40 was hit east of the Manitoba border?

I was kind of hoping that Thunder Bay was going to take the crown.
