Lots of big storms south and east of Edmonton yesterday, and a tornado ripped through Dillberry Lake Provincial Park. Thankfully, it sounds like there were only a few minor injuries, but a bunch of people will be making insurance claims as trailers and vehicles were flipped, trees toppled, etc.

It's uncomfortably cool outside today, which has become FAR too normal this spring/summer. It's sunny, so it looks like it should be warm, but it's currently only 16. Apparently, it's still supposed to get to 22—we'll see. Elks play at home tonight, and I don't expect a big crowd because the forecast has called for rain all week, and everyone is over it. Maybe they get a good walkup because the sun is out, but it's a Thursday against the worst team in the league, and there is still a possibility of more rain, so I doubt it.

24 tomorrow with the possibility of severe storms (though they always seem to miss Edmonton), 24 and cloudy on Saturday, and then finally a stretch with no rain, but underwhelming forecast highs of 22 Sunday, 22, 25, 24. It continues to be a very disappointing summer.

Warm and dry with a mix of sun and cloud.

Thursday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 24 C (25 C w/Humidex), the low was 15 C.

4 days ago on the Blackmud Creek in Edmonton. High water and lots and lots of log jams requiring lots of portages between 111th street and 23rd Avenue.

I'm guessing because it's raining and on the cool side of seasonal today in Montreal, Nikko isn't posting, so the hotspot today was Osoyoos at 32.3. A nice day there with a low of 20.8 as well.

I'm guessing the warmest low yesterday was Osoyoos at 23.2.

18C and light rain in Moncton at 9 AM, going up to 25C later today with more showers and thunderstorms.

The rain is much needed. It has been dry recently.

Sunrise over the Petitcodiac River as seen from the Three Sisters apartment complex, not sure what floor.

Rumbles of thunder and off and on and light showers and some sunshine this morning. Currently it's 20.3/27 at 11 am down from 22.6/29 at 10 am. Warmer muggier air started moving in overnight with temp increasing as high 21.2/27 at 3 am. The forecast high today is 25 with a low chance of showers. The week ahead looks great.

It's deathly hot by our standards today. And almost no breeze. I'm sweating enough even sitting in the shade to need a towel or I'd be blinded by it.

Rare that you get to do that. Whitemud and Black mud are good right now. Can even do the full length of the Sturgeon. Heard a rumor someone was going to try the Jet boat run up the Sturgeon. Lots of flooding still in St Albert and big lake will be high the remainder of the summer.

Some pretty good thunder storms through Edmonton this morning.

Gorgeous day today, and speaking of creeks, hiked a bit of the Seaton Trail in Pickering (just outside Toronto) along the West Duffins Creek.

Still active CP trestle bridge.

Lots of glacial till bluffs

28C (humidex of 30) and sunny. We are back to being very dry. Dewpoint in the 10-12C range.

Low of 18C this morning.

The warmspot was Warfield, BC at 33.3C.

Warmest low yesterday was Point Pelee, ON at 21.3C.

Since I started following the rule of no posting if below average high, we've had the longest stretch of above normal weather in pretty much a year. Need to keep it going.

Raspberries are a bit behind this year with the horrendous weather.

Low of 16C this morning.

The warmspot was Val Marie, SK at 35.4C.

Had a nasty hailstorm today in the southside today. Quarter-sized hail and streets flooding. Northside got hit with nasty hailstorm yesterday with similar outcomes.

This reminded me of when I lived in Brampton, where the house backs onto a forest. Had a garter snake in the garden a couple of times. At least they're useful for controlling the mice population.

And where I am now, we have a family of four foxes living on the street the past month. The other day two of them were playing with a mouse they caught. They were so effective for the mice control that I forgot about the two traps I have in my two sheds. I assumed the foxes would be looking after my backyard, but two mice did get through. Well, the heat wave happened and flies got it and laid eggs in the two dead mice. Spent an hour cleaning out the traps. Used a can of air to blow out the maggots onto the ground then torched them with a lighter. You can't just simply throw maggots away. You gotta send them Hell!
