Here is a longer version of the video which starts at Alameda and Macy. The camera then travels down a construction zone on Macy Street.

I posted a picture of the building with the "Lumber" sign at the beginning of the video along with a map in the old thread - see here. I'm pretty sure we saw the video above in the old thread, but I'm not sure if it was colorized.

BTW. A A Jowdy's grocers, seen in e_r's screengrab above, was at 506 Macy Street.

Excellent work e_r. The dining car is still there at 3029 E. Main Street, Ventura.

The dining car was first aligned in a SW/NE direction next to an auto court.

When the auto court closed the diner was moved to it's present day street alignment.

Here is a post on the dining car, I snipped from the facebook group Historical Camarillo and Ventura County.

It runs down the dining car's history in Ventura from James Vavruche acquiring it in 1932.

Here's one story not mentioned in that history - James Vavruche's acquittal on a murder charge over a 1935 shooting in the diner.

I'm dying (not really) to find out if this 'futuristic' chuch is still standing.

The California City Community Church is at 21001 Conklin Boulevard, California City. The church is now housed in a newer building on the corner of the intersection. Looking at Historic Aerials, I think the building above was next to structure that remains behind the current church. None of the images are clear enough to be worth posting. If I'm correct, it looks like the old building lasted until sometime between 1985 and 1994, during which time the new church was built. Here's a description on the back of a postcard at CardCow.com:

The Community Church of California City is a multi-arched Structure of medieval Swedish design. It is a Congregational Church and serves as the center of religious worship in the high desert community of California City.

The signal is an early Acme Semaphore Signal, next to it is a diamond shaped Blvd. Stop Sign, In the early days of L.A. signals were shut off at night in most areas as motor traffic then was very low. To control traffic a Stop sign took the place of a signal at night.

Here's a 1927 aerial of the intersection before the overpass was built. The Belmont Tunnel portal and PE yard are toward the bottom in the center with 1st and 2nd Streets coming in from the right.
