The 476-acre Tranquille property west of the Kamloops Airport includes the former sanatorium, adjacent land and more than 3,000 metres of Kamloops Lake waterfront — all listed for a little less than $15 million.
Ignition Tranquille Developments had proposed redevelopment plans for the property, which would have transformed it into a community with up to 2,000 homes, a farm, market, winery, hotel and waterfront parks.
Tim McLeod, project manager for Ignition, declined to comment when asked about the sale. He directed questions to real estate agent Mark Lester.

At this point the buildings are almost a total loss. They don't have power. They don't have water. There has been no active security on the property for almost 20 years and they have all been vandalized, stripped of copper and left open to the weather for far too long to do much more than save a few artifacts and level them. They aren't historically listed and they aren't on any sensitive land other than the land reserve.
Anyone looking to buy the place now is looking at a massive cleanup bill.

Indian Casinos exist almost exclusively through a tax loophole allowing them to not be regulated like normal off-reserve establishments. Parts of Canada (Casinorama in Ontario, for example) are like this but in BC all casinos have to be overseen by BCLC and therefore must comply with provincial gaming regulations and taxation, no matter where they are.
Kamloops has the maximum allowable number of casinos and bingo halls (one of each) per population density. Even for a city like Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster or Coquitlam they only have one casino each. The existence of the reservation being outside Kamloops city limits does not allow them to build one or more casinos or bingo halls because it's still the same jurisdiction.
