That's got to be a good sign that things are happening with that project on Fortune!

Placemark is heading back to council with a revised Kenna Cartwright Park OCP amendment. Their original concept was denied by council. I was glad to see that one get denied. This is a much better proposal in my opinion. Instead of just a bunch of residential units, they've created a buffer with the highway and put commercial along the frontage, and tucked the residential in behind against the hill, limiting the numbers of units to 900 from 1,350. Still no water capacity in that area so will be interesting to see what council does with this one. Lots going on in that part of town! New arena and library will be just to the right of this property.

Original Plan

Revised Plan

Damn, I like that idea. That could create a demand for future commercial development as well. I could see the city out skirts pushing to INKS lake in the years ahead... so much flat land up there to work with.

Haha, those 2 places are awesome, but I could care less about another goyslop franchise opening. There's already way too many.

As a Kamloopsian I want to quip that if Canada had nuclear weapons, in the event of an attack they would use Kelowna as a calibration point before proceeding to deal with the enemy using the remaining nukes.

Why do we have to pick between a new bridge and highway improvements? Do them both BC gov, that's what we pay you for.

Whoever the hell thought these had to be considered at all needs to be shot.
Where in the last two years (or even longer if you follow how often the bridge was being worked on because of traffic volume) did anyone EVER say these would be a great idea?

Looks like the city has gone out of the way to insure Dallas Brodie cannot hold an even here in Kamloops. I may not agree with everything she says, I do not believe that the city should not flex their political weight to insure her voice is not heard. This is what soft suppression looks like. Would the city do the same thing to the small house warriors? What about a BLM event or a Free Palestine event? I don't agree with a lot of what they say either, but they have the right to say it.

If I had the money I'd be putting that on-the-CFJC-record quote on billboards to make sure this council never works a job related to city hall ever again.

It's sad that we cant agree that everyone deserves to be heard. At the very least, you are giving people an opportunity to make an ass out of themselves for all to hear.

The sad thing is, these actions of silencing people (and lumping legitimate criticisms and questions together with the crazy) only put fuel on the fire and lead to even worse outcomes, we only need to look south at the Orange Turd to see how this ends up.

I knew this proposal was too good to be true. Instead, we get another bland box. Hooray

We don't need to look that far. The extremists that currently hold office in our own parliament are far more divisive and authoritarian than any right leaning political party. No question NDP would be allowed to hold a rally and spew hatred and misinformation. If it's a public venue, then everyone gets to use it, no matter how much the other side doesn't agree.

Yup, blue green gonna blue green. You don't even have to say that's who designed it. You can tell right away with their designs that they did. That's how much they suck. Plus the developer is looking to reduce the number of parking stalls by 29%. I say give them no reduction with crap like that. Put a better building before council and maybe think about any variances, haha. It's the only way they'll learn.
