That lot is part of the Railside development at The Forks, currently there are 10 buildings slated for/under construction on the south lot, phase two will incorporate the north lot, or parcel 4 as it's known shown in the skyline photo posted on the previous page.

While I admire the Skytower’s height and striking silhouette in the skyline, I find it less visually pleasing as a standalone structure—maybe it’s the balconies.

It screams Hong Kong to me, I quite like it. Was cool to see in person, you get a great view of it on the Via train leaving downtown.

Funny how that's the exact opposite of me. The tower itself turned out better than i had feared and I like the height, proportions and quality of the glass. But I HATE its position in the skyline. For me it basically ruins the lake view by diminishing other buildings by making everything further back seem smaller than they really are by comparison. And it also places blue-glass residential as the dominant feature. It would have been perfect somewhere near the Eaton Centre like the site of the 241 Yonge proposal, or perhaps one of the Chelsea redevelopment towers. Or if they used this design for Concord Sky (although the city might have forced a height reduction in which case meh).

Usually I'm not a fan of balconies, but in this case I like how it breaks up the fecade of the tower. Otherwise it would be 1153 ft of curtainwall from the ground up.

It's okay but the condo towers aren't comparable to old skylines standouts like the Mies designed TD Centre, Royal York, or Commerce Court North and so on. It mirrors the Canadian economy in that we don't have grand buildings designed as HQs but mostly investor class condos. You can say the same about most Canadian cities.

Urbanism-wise I'm not sure I prefer the US though, where there's a tiny fraction of the total development but you do get 1 prominent corporate tower every decade or two.

What was the last corporate tower in Toronto? Been about 10 years since the last Calgary one, probably a decade at least before we get another one.

I love my balcony. But being on a 4-6 storey balcony is pretty comfy. I'm not particularly afraid of heights but a 75th floor balcony sounds... terrifying.

If by corporate you just mean office buildings, there have been lots of recent office towers in Toronto. The second of the new CIBC square buildings was just completed, and the new TD building on Front, the Well Office along with the first CIBC square were all completed within the last 5 years. And if you expand that to the last decade you also have Bay-Adelaide Centre East, Sixteen York, One York Street, and EY tower. All of these being over 150m.
