I agree. Best balance of background and stand-out towers. Good height variation.

A few Ottawa shots from Emanulix on YouTube.

Relative to its metro population, Ottawa appears to have a very multinodal skyline. I was there a month ago, and I was quite impressed with how much it had grown since my last visit 3 years prior.

In that last Ottawa picture, the deep colour saturation and the mix of red brick low rise structures and blocky midrises almost make this look like the kind of early colour photo that would have been taken in the 1940s and early 50s.

All that's missing is a smokestack belching coal smoke in the distance.

This is a cool picture. Looks almost Londony. A gappy and dumpy London, mind.

It's kind of a shame that where they're building, they're ripping down the granular buildings for tower. And where they aren't the street remains gappy and dumpy.

Fully agree. I wish we could preserve more of the existing "complete" urban form and develop the gaps instead.

Agreed. That being said, the stretch of Wellington in Hintonburg is miles ahead of what it was when I lived in Ottawa during the early 2000s.

Great skyline, but is there any other city in Canada that has as many twins as Calgary?

I bet Toronto has more by total number, but proportionally Calgary is the twin capital of Canada for sure. A combo of boom bust cycles and cautious or conservative developers has resulted in phased developments. Had the recessions not occurred there would be even more. Brookefield Place was supposed to have a shorter twin. First Canadian Centre was supposed to have a supertall twin. Even the Bow was proposed as twins until Foster said eff that do one tower! Good thing too since the proposed cultural centre across the street never materialized.

As for the shot from Bankview, I love the explosion in midrise condos going on in the city right now. Densification is happening all across the city, just without conspicuous skylines.

That's a great shot of Calgary. I tend to think of Calgary's core as a pile of highrises surround by single family homes. This neighborhood in the foreground is all walkup apartments.

Really nice Calgary shot. I've never seen this viewpoint before.

I can’t imagine how I will react the next time I’m there because my last visit was in 2010 already…

Great Calgary and Vancouver shots. As for Toronto, I'm disliking it more and more as time goes on. It's getting bigger and taller but not more dynamic. Unlike Calgary, Toronto's skyline has become nothing but a solid blue wall especially from the Waterfront perspective where you can hardly tell one building from the next.

Hamilton's skyline has changed quite a bit over the last decade. What's interesting is that many of the newer additions are part of a broader trend toward downtown intensification, with more residential development helping reshape the core.

For anyone interested in following new developments in the city, this page tracks current condo projects in Hamilton: https://www.gta-homes.com/new-condos-hamilton/

It'll be interesting to see how the skyline evolves over the next few years as more projects move from planning to construction.

Love the illusion of an ocean of trees in front of the Hamilton skyline.

That's Bankview, very urban area that's just SW of the Beltline.

I get where you are coming from, but man, even 10 years ago this place was much more dumpy. Now it's infill city.
