TEK Tower Kitchener

Tek Tower is a legend. I see it from all angles of the city: When I am driving on the 7-8. In the countryside, from Ottawa St and Highway 7 going towards Guelph and from the parking lot at Conestoga Mall. Bonus tip: if you view it from the skinny side from afar, it makes it look taller, and almost for a second tricks your brain into thinking it's actually as skinny as those Towers in Billionaires' Row by Central Park, NY. Anyways, stopped by today to snap some pics. It looks like they are just finishing some cladding on the one side, where the construction hoists have been. Would be epic if they finally broke ground on the one that is supposed to be beside it, where the Ziggys is.

Station Park Kitchener
@ZachHiebert Apr 14, 2026
Quote:
Hey Everyone! This is my first time posting, so I just thought I'd give a brief introduction. I live in Kitchener and have really gotten into skylines and architecture in the last couple of years. It's so exciting to see all the development happening in Kitchener, specifically. I love that these groups have people who share my passion. I am a full-time videographer, so I also love taking photos of these projects, although please don't judge these photos too harshly. I was in a rush and just casually capturing.
That brings me to Station Park, this probably has to be one of the most exciting projects in KW, and if that Station Park E building ever goes up, that will be an insane win for the skyline... Anyways, I know things right now are pretty bleak with the Condo market slowing down, combined with the water issues in KW. But I thought I'd stop by today to take some photos of the site to regain some excitement in the project, and show just how far it's come. I know some people in the forum don't love it, but honestly, the first duo tower is one of the best-looking in the city, in my opinion. I love that they went for something unique with the balconies (Unique for KW that is, should be measured differently compared to Toronto lol). I have faith in this project, but if this is all we get, it is still a great addition to the rapidly growing skyline.

Looks like there’s finally some movement on station park ?? Posted today by vanmar. Does this mean the walls will finally come down? Can someone get a drone shot to confirm this? I know this doesn’t mean the other towers are continuing, construction but still nice to see something new with this development.

Snapped some pics the other day. This tower went up so fast! Seems like it was only last summer when it was first making ground. Definitely not breathtaking in terms of design. But I do like that they are at least trying something with the checkered pattern side, which looks nice when viewing from King St, and adds some visual density when looking South in Downtown. I do also love the way it stands out above the trees when viewing it from the elevated side of the 7-8 Highway, although I wasn't able to get a photo of that. Overall, definitely a win for the Kitchener Skyline! I recently saw a post by the developer saying it has become the tallest in the Region... although I am almost certain that title belongs to Tek Tower 🤔... Does anyone know the actual height difference? This thread title says 102m, but I am not sure if that was the original height, and it is taller now, but Tek Tower, I think, is around 140m.

The checkered pattern side is temporary, when Vive builds phase 2 it will cover that and continue the white all the way around.

Activa has now started to build the townhomes on the site. They have issued building permits for townhome Blocks A and F, as well as stacked townhome Blocks K, L and M. They have only started construction on the first stacked townhome blocks which they've been working on for a few months now, the roof trusses have been completed for a few weeks and are off to the side.
The apartments fronting Fischer Hallman are still a couple of years away but they did new geotechnical work a week or two ago so there is still progress behind the scenes on those.

This gives a better overall view of the progress on the site, as I mentioned before they have permits for 5 of the 13 buildings, they have started work on three of those five so far.

Went to pick up something in Waterloo today and wow this one really snuck up on me. Didn’t know they had made so much progress. I think the blue cladding looks kinda cool and helps it stick out. I often overlook waterloos skyline because it’s not as tall as Kitchener, but it sure is dense, and keeps getting denser which gives it a more urban feel. Also, it seems like so many towers here top out at a similar height, does Waterloo have a height cap?

They're working on the mechanical room structure. Windows/cladding are installed most of the way up. You can get a good sense now of how it's going to look. It's a light blue colour that reminds of the the plastic you have to peel off when you get a new appliance, though I'm thinking they won't be peeling it off!

It is hideous, but from a Region standard it is ok looking. But again this is an awful looking building. At least it is not grey precast.....

2026-06-03 They are working on the 7th and final floor for Building A. (The podium along Courtland for Building A is 5 stories. Building B will be the same.) Building B has been at 2 stories for a while, and Building C is at 3 stories. (To be 8 stories). Edit: I was looking on the documents on the city's website and I found that there was a newer one switching which was Building A and which was Building B. Apparently, the one along Palmer is Building B and the one at Kent is Building A.

Just a correction but all 3 of the buildings are supposed to be 9 floors and have building permits for that height. So there's still a bit to go on them. They also look pretty similar to the renderings all things considered, identical no, but similar yes. If I have some time later this week I may venture over this way and get some drone shots of this.

I have not posted anything about this in 7 months, so here goes…
- After 9 years, the project is STILL incomplete.
- They STILL close Cameron for part of the day almost daily.
- The site is STILL chaotic at the corner of Cameron and Charles.
- There STILL is no Starbucks (and I doubt there ever will be).
- There is STILL no real retail presence, and the two existing retail tenants rarely have customers.
- The first tower is STILL mostly empty. I look out my back window at night and see very few lights on. I conclude that the units are mostly empty (or inhabited by vampires)
- The site is STILL noisy all day from construction. The good news is that the guy who yaps into a loudspeaker all day seems to have disappeared about a month ago.
Why do people continue to complain about this project? The answer is STILL, STILL, STILL!

This is now above grade, it helps that there is no underground works beyond the footings, as I flew over the site I didn't see a tower crane base so presumably this will all be done with a mobile crane. Fischer Hallman (the road this abuts) will be widened this summer to 4 lanes and it will also be getting proper active transit facilities which presently are non existent. Taken May 11, 2026.

As I mentioned before this was likely going to be precast and it is, as such it's starting to pick up speed again. Phase 3 is still in limbo in terms of the OPA/ZBA and that is entirely because of the Region holding things up due to the water issue. Photos below were taken May 11.

I'm way behind on posting these photos but this one is topped out and the crane is down. They've started to do some minor landscaping works along Courtland now that they've completed site servicing works. I mentioned before but Cantiro owns the adjacent properties (red brick buildings) which they're going to partly demolish and put up stacked townhomes. The building directly abutting Courtland is historical (original Schneiders factory) so they can't demolish all of it and will be turning part of it into an apartment.

Both of the cranes are up on this and the underground level is almost complete. It appears this is going to be precast just based on the lack of vertical rebar for shear walls but we'll see in the coming weeks if it is, it'll either be Fritz Alder or Stubbes if it is precast.

These are various shots from the last few month, funnily enough the first few shots were taken the same day as KhalilHeron went by, the test section of brick was completed on the University Ave side at that point. The second group of shots has them setting up for the brick along the LRT tracks along with the completed granular pad to allow for construction works for the pedestrian bridge. The mechanical enclosure on the roof was also framed in the second set of shots. April 29, 2026
