As time approaches for opening I 74 from existing I 74 north to the open part north of I 40, I reiterate that the orphened part must have an Intestate designation as is done all around the nation. I suggest I 474. I am mystified as to why NCDOT does not think this important and W-S and Forsyth officials are impotent on such matters. This is important but I have found no mention anywhere in anyway. The orphoned section cannot remain as I 74, and so will NCDOT simply ignore it or ridiculouly assign an NC State route. I hope the importance of signing the orphoned section a 3-digit Interstate is realized - AASHTO approval is required!
