Royal Premium Restaurant in Stonebridge offers the taste of Nigeria

Businesses and non-profit organizations regularly open and move in Saskatoon. Today, the StarPhoenix spoke with Olugbenga and Oluwatoyin Fakoyejo who recently opened Royal Premium Restaurant Pastries and Lounge in Stonebridge.

The couple came to Canada from Nigeria about eight years ago and started catering events in both Saskatoon and Calgary about five years ago. They decided to open their own restaurant, offering the flavors of Nigeria and West Africa, as well as Caribbean and American Cuisine.

Gibson's is a Saskatoon institution. Established 1964. There aren't too many restaurants that can say they've been in business for 62 years.

Businesses and non-profit organizations regularly open and move in Saskatoon. Today, the StarPhoenix spoke with Chelsey Wilde, who together with her husband Joel Wilde, opened Good Earth Coffeehouse in the main mall at Royal University Hospital.

The duo also owns the Good Earth Coffeehouse at Jim Pattison’s Children’s Hospital. Their new location is their first to open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, giving the owners a chance to reach more people in a larger, centralized location.

Sweet donation: Saskatoon churro sales help fund Venezuela earthquake relief efforts

People in Saskatoon can help support earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela simply by buying some churros.

On Thursday, 100 per cent of net sales at Sure O’s in Lawson Heights Mall will be sent to Venezuela to assist with relief efforts after a pair of earthquakes hit the country last week, leaving more than 2,200 people dead and 11,000 injured.
