I did read that the population is growing and demand to build downtown is higher than before

^ Awesome pics. It's so satisfying to see how neatly the BMU tucks into the crown. This is a very precise design-- I keep forgetting it's SOM, but it's very SOM.

Pretty doubtful they will raise the height of tower 2 in this project, but i have been curious whether/when current trends will ultimately cause the pendulum to swing back- demand for Class A rents, and corresponding rent growth, are extremely high right now, in large part due to a dearth of new supply, but also the gradual return of population growth and desire to live downtown, etc

Yes, I think the odds are very low that there would be a revision to the south tower.

What I could envision is that if this tower has brisk sales, and if the new Dusaballe Par becomes a hot amentity, that the parcel O (?), at the very northeast corner of Lakeshore East, may finally get built sooner rather than later. Maybe a developer would even be willng to aim for a higher floor count than what prior versions were orginally planned for.

I believe you are referring to Parcel I! I have been hoping for the same. It would frame the river nicely. Parcel O is the hotel planned for the small parcel near Aqua Tower. Hopefully the demand will produce some action on the Tribune East parcel as well. The skyline could use a few more peaks.

If there is any revision it would probably be adding some super high-end for-sale units to the top floors, but only if Chicago's condo market sudden roars back to life. I'm not holding my breath...
