No, I don't live in Edmundston anymore, just happened to be over there a couple of weekends ago and noticed it never opened.

Does anyone know anything about the Hive Bitcoin Mine in Grand Falls being converted to a data center? I'm surprised construction hasn't started yet.

The conversion of the old Woodstock Middle School to apartments has really started now.

On a Woodstock facebook group, I just saw a post, the windows have been removed, and the blue-tin siding has been stripped off. I think there had to be some other (asbestos?) removal in there too which slowed things down; but the project is finally going strong now.

Not sure if this is the right thread but Retail Talk on Facebook shared an article Belledune is being pushed for Canada's largest explosives factory.

Yes, the nb government and port CEO where in Europe to pitch the port to the company, they would produce ammunition for Nato countries since most countries are re-arming and renewing their weapons supply, this would go great with the possible torpedo/navy resupply, would create a defence synergy in the region that would really create a boost for the region. They would also create explosives for the mining sector.

The ammunition factory is expected to create 500 direct jobs, lets say that the other projects would go ahead(Positive +, torpedo plant, Navy resupply, Pellet plant…) would be close to or over 1000 direct jobs, the the indirect jobs and those are all competitive good paying jobs. It would be awesome for the area!!

According to the article, some project could be announced soon.

Environmental impact assessment has been submitted for a Torrefied wood pellet production plant in Belledune. Project is in partnership with first nations, airex energy and Arbec forest products. This plant is projected to supply the Belledune Generating Station with alternative biomass fuel to phase out coal by 2030. This is the current project in Belledune with the greater chance of seeing light of all the projects that are currently proposed.

From what is proposed, they would convert the old Bennett plant next to the modular fabrication facility.

Conversion is imminent for planned entry in production in the 2nd half of 2027.

200 jobs during construction, 35 once in operation.

Demolition equipment is on St Peter Avenue in Bathurst to remove a small red building next to Leon's to make way for a new apartment building. Also on St Anne street a developer is getting ready to start building row houses next to a new apartment building which fully leased over the winter. Work on the Eddy store and DC is moving along with the foundations going in. Lots of activity in Bathurst at the moment. The old Mill property will see water works and electrical added this summer with plans to sub to the property for development.

There is very little on the shelves at No Frills in Bathurst. The store closes on the 23rd. It will get a quick rebranding and get refilled with new product to align with the Maxi lineup. Store reopens June 4

It looks like Tru by Hilton will be building one of its Hotels by the New Multiplex off Douglastown Blvd in Miramichi. This will be the first Commercial project in the new lands for development surrounding the multiplex. And one of the first for this brand of hotel in New Brunswick if im not mistaken.

Here is the site plan for what might happen to the lands around the new Miramichi sportsplex:

This shows the full development (including the sportsplex).

Quote:
Cedar Camp Developments has been approved as the developer for property on Tupsi Drive with plans to develop a hotel complex, retail stores, a restaurant, office space and residential units.

At the May 5th, 2026 Special Council Meeting, Miramichi City Council agreed to execute an Agreement of Purchase and Sale with Developer Agreement for 7.5 acres of property for $100,000 plus HST.

The development will be located in close proximity to the Arbec Wellness Centre, located off of Douglastown Boulevard as part of the overall plan to enhance and compliment the investments the city has made and assist in establishing its presence as a true destination in northeastern New Brunswick.

The total value of the development is approximately $95 million.
It is encouraging that they have already found a hotel partner. The hotel should get a lot of business from the adjacent sportsplex (tournaments, etc,).

This link gives a lot of information on the Arbec Wellness Centre, including schematics and renderings.

Well most of us assumed Belledune was the potential site. This facility would be contingent on the South Koreans being selected for the sub replacements. https://tj.news/new-brunswick/new-brunswick-eyed-as-location-for-torpedo-manufacturing-plant

Fingers crossed.

That is actually a separate facility, European/Canadian company for the explosive plant, the torpedo facility is related to Hanwaa but would make so much sense if the explosives are produced nearby!

CCD is a good source but I have learned not to take the information on there for granted, many announced projects that never took off had entries on CCD

Even the local news is amazed by it. Sad in a sense to think that in Nothern New Brunswick it's that much of a attraction, when Southurn NB its a normal day occurrence.

On a Bathurst side note, the next string of apartments is getting ready to start construction on St Anne. The developer fully leased the fist block in a matter of a couple of Months. People were moving in while painters were finishing up.

Major infrastructure has begun in East Bathurst with Miramichi avenue beginning upgrades and the mill site getting its infrastructure at the same time.
