this is the view you'll get from walking by on the sidewalk, which i never really thought about. Makes that corner CRU pretty important.

I heard Carrington just took this development over, value engineered the arches out of existence and gave it the EIFS treatment instead of brick. Any truth to this rumour?

Once the UWCRC 2.0 building gets going, it's really going to be quite the compact site.

Where would the UWCRC building be going in proximity to the orange shaded footprint on the pic above? West of the southern portion of it?

You would think the architect would have mentioned this by now if true........

Or is my sarcasm meter in need of calibration???

Just confronting my own demons through dark humour. I don't think I can ever forgive Carrington for the massacre on Donald. A Winnipeg tragedy.

Piling also shows how close together the buildings actually are.

Why would the Forks give up their own building?

I was going to comment somethign similar to this, because yesterday while walking down Donald, I saw the Carrington building. It looks almost finished now, at least from the outside. When I passed by what could’ve been that beautiful arched entrance on Donald, it honestly broke my heart a little that what we ended up with is just… a grey and white box.

It’s such a conflicting feeling. On one hand, I’m glad someone took over the project and we avoided an unfinished building situation (or another slow-moving saga like the Sutton Hotel). But on the other hand, I can’t help feeling a bit sad, and maybe a little annoyed, that the original vision and beauty of the design never fully materialized.
