Red Leaf Pulp is preparing to break ground on its Regina facility, designed to convert wheat straw into pulp for packaging, tissue, and paper products.

The goal is straightforward. We take an underused part of the crop and turn it into a reliable, high-value input for pulp production. A system where straw has a consistent demand and real market value.

Momentum is building, and the next phase is underway.

Excited to keep the momentum going.

Work happening all over the Westerra expansion area, looks like they are adding all the new roads at once, or at least the storm drains. Adding another road in the Harbour Landing SE extension. Building the back wall at the school. Last time I was over there they assembled the phone tower by the school, I guess you need an extra one when you have 1000 phones in one building.

A few quick shots while I was headed for lunch. Costco water retention area reaching its final size as they are tapering the edge of the final cut. Lots of piles with rebar waiting for concrete. Staring to excavate more the foundation perimeter wall.

Just bins had a post that someone lit a fire inside the new Harbour Landing school last night. Damage in photo looks minimal since the wall / floor was concrete.

PCL started in Stoughton, SK. Bird has had a very limited commercial construction presence in Saskatchewan in recent decades, with the exception of the Joint-Use schools project they did about a decade back in a joint venture with Wright. This data centre may well change that.

But Saskatchewan has certainly been fertile ground for contractors that grew into major players in the Canadian Construction Industry. PCL moved its headquarters to Edmonton in 1932. Bird moved their headquarters to Winnipeg in 1938, and are now headquartered in Mississauga. Graham kept their head office in Moose Jaw until 1984, before moving those operations to Calgary.

As part of the strategic partnership, Bird will issue Bell warrants to acquire up to 2,625,000 common shares of Bird (the “Warrants”), with 750,000 Warrants vesting on the delivery of the Sherwood facility and the remainder vesting in connection with the delivery of potential future AI data centre projects, as and when delivered by Bird pursuant to the strategic partnership, over a period of five years. The issuance of the Warrants is subject to TSX Approval. The Warrants will have a term of seven years and an exercise price of $52.00 (equal to the 5-day volume weighted average price of Bird’s common shares preceding this announcement).

As Bird was the only one of the short-listed construction firms that is publicly traded, this arrangement would not have been available with any of the other proponents, all of which are employee-owned.

I noticed that the building on the corner of Broad and Broadway has been completely fenced off, for I suspect demolition to make way for West Oak's planned apartment building. Can anyone confirm this?

Quite innovative. Is Bird also getting the contract for the conversion of the former pea processing centre outside Winnipeg to data centre?

CBS vacated some years ago. They are a tenant of Westoak in Landmark Mall on Albert S.

This project was supposed to start this spring/summer, so I think that's a fair assumption.

It is nice to see at least some density show up downtown and not on the edge of the city though.

Maybe so - but then they have to go concrete construction and that likely changes the financial feasibility of the project, given the delta between wood and concrete construction.

The new building on the corner of College and Broad is a big one. What a great addition in brick to match the rest of that area -- the Diocesan building, St Chads, Balfour, etc. I think it's seniors housing, but very well done.

This Westoak one is big, but fairly boring from an aesthetic standpoint.

They were hauling a bunch of dirt out to the data centre to level out the grade (or create raised building pads) of the area they finished removing top soil from. From the time I got to the long term care site trucks were coming about every 2 minutes. A lull in deliveries as I was leaving. I think they are also borrowing dirt from the east side of the site to build up the west side as it looks like they are digging below grade and haul over to the west with the offroad dump trucks.

The Toronto & 15th project looks to be in another lull, same exterior state it was 2 weeks ago. Forms going up for 4th floor on one of the LTC wings.

There is a borrow pit on #6 South about 6 miles South of the city. They used that pit to twin the highway and also provide dirt at the Grand Coulee access. There has been a 30 truck lineup there this week to haul dirt to the data centre.
