Have we seen Jack's Coffee Shop on NLA?

facebook

And it's still there!

GSV

"Jack’s Whittier Restaurant is a historic, down-home American diner on Whittier Boulevard established by Clinton Hust “Jack” Corcoran. Although tracing its roots to a 1933 lunch counter, the current location at 13221 Whittier Blvd was built in 1956. Famous for its Googie-style sign and classic comfort food, the restaurant remains a popular local spot."

I remember that corner as a restaurant called MILK, 7290 Beverly Blvd.; there 15-20 years. Looks like it's been gone a couple years. Insomnia Café was located next to it.

In the early 90's one of the stores held a pharmacy. Good to see that they have kept the color scheme for all these years.

Oh my gosh e_r thanks for posting that whopper of a photo! It would look great hanging in the NLA clubhouse.

However, I'm pretty sure the ebay seller has mislabed the photo and that it's actually the Stimson Building on the NE
corner of 3rd and Spring in 1893.

At first I thought it was the Frost Building, too, but while looking for info on it I found an article in the January 5, 1898,
Los Angeles Evening Express that listed George Low, John Parkinson, and Thomas Haverty as the contractor, architect,
and plumbing-steam fitting-gas guy for the Frost Building. Those names don't match those on the signs on the ebay
photo -- Llewyllen Bros, C. H. Brown, and Stephens & Myer -- and C. H. Brown was the architect of the Stimson Block.

Newspapers.com

Here's the Charles H. Frost building on the NWC of 2nd and Broadway on October 5, 1960, just before it was demolished.
Its windows are a little different from those on the Stimson Building:

The "blind" panels . . .

gsv

. . . were first designed to be further display windows; but they decided to brick them up while the building was still under construction in January 1931:

Building Permit dated 1/14/1931

Just for the record, the address is 7290 Beverly Boulevard.

There aren't many clues for this mystery location except for the dude on the roof.

Thanks, odinthor.

It's a nice little building. I'm glad to see that it has survived.

"Venice Los Angeles California 2012 Modern Glass Beachfront Building"

It looks like there was a street number but -unless I'm mistaken- the numbers have been removed leaving only stains. ..(or am I imagining things?)

419? or 479?...

419 Ocean Front Walk, Venice Beach. It was apparently the model house used in Cycle 15 of America's Next Top Model back in 2010.

The sign's changed color, but otherwise the Flores Motel still looks the same at 807 E Manchester Ave. PropertyShark says it was built in 1946.
