Prop A was what tilted it for me, personally. There is a much bigger national problem with sports leagues wanting new arenas/stadiums without real plans for the abandoned venue. You don't get another one 30 years from now.

On a simpler note, I hope it looks cool
The Spurs can do whatever they want. They are one of the biggest tax payers that San Antonio has. Losing them, would have been a bigger hurt on the public than if there was somehow some increase in property taxes in this election. The city would have been in more financial trouble if Prop B did not pass.

On another note, a lot of other cities are very bummed about this election. San Antonio's gain if you ask me.

Can we fund a stadium for major league baseball or pro football on top of building a billion dollar plus basketball arena or did we just shoot ourselves in the foot with this one?
The word “when” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

On top of that, the Spurs moving from the Frost Center will allow the rodeo to use it year-round, which will be a huge boon to them and the city, and having the Spurs play downtown is a tried-and-true method to bring people downtown in almost the exact same location as they played before and had a much better fan experience spending time downtown instead of in a sprawling, ugly, somewhat dangerous parking lot after the game. Is that what you're complaining about? Please help me understand.
Since we won't be getting the NFL, or MLB anytime soon, maybe we can score a PBR team, when the FBC is freed up.

Great job, San Antonio! This is a BIG CITY vision and I’m happy to see y’all (my ex-neighbors!) willing to leave something amazing for the next generation. Maybe the Spurs will have won a couple championships by move-in day? GSG.

The opportunity that has arisen is so special and I’m excited to see it come to life, in due time. As mentioned earlier - this needs to be done right. Can y’all imagine how LIT the first All Star Weekend in the new arena will be? Oh lorrrrd.

IF San Antonio ever gets an NFL team (Jerry Jones won't be around forever as Father Time remains undefeated) it will likely be an expansion team and a stadium would likely be outside downtown as is the case for most NFL stadiums. Makes more sense as an NFL team only plays about 10 home games over a 5 month span and the stadium is mostly idle the other 355 days of the year, so downtown real estate is too pricey for so little use.

Also, it's more of a regional sport, therefore, locating the stadium to be more readily accessible to fans who travel to the game, something that is necessary to fill a 70K+ stadium (unless your a mega-sized metro, like DFW or LA), is a smarter approach..

With that in mind the North Side has the potential to become "second downtown" like the Uptown Houston/Galleria area if an NFL arena gets serious talk in about twenty or thirty years. All in one neighborhood you got UTSA, the Rim/La Cantera, Six Flags/Sea World, JW Marriott...and the Park and Ride to zip people straight to downtown with the Spurs. Maybe even a skyscraper or two gets built...nothing crazy tall due to proximity to the Airport.

I'm looking at this huge piece of land near Retama, and close to both 1604 and 35. Or somwhere in the New Braunfels/San Marcos area. (It would be more like to happen with Austin involved, so the area along 35 between the cities with a lot of open land makes sense. (Maybe it would finally be the impetus to get that train going too.)

What? Neither Sea World nor the JW Marriott are any near Six Flags and the Rim.

Sorry, I was thinking more broadly with the North Side than what I said. Of course, I'll be in my seventies or eighties by the time any of this happens (just like the Greater San Antonio/Austin metroplex with a 20 minute bullet train connecting the two), assuming they don't keep Jerry Jones' head in a jar Futurama-style and he forever blocks an Alamo City NFL expansion.

But that don't matter! Why? Cause Go Spurs Go.

When it comes to the actual architecture of the Wembydome, I would hope it goes one of two ways; classical or ultramodern. I think the Royal Arena in Denmark is pretty slick with the pinstripe look, and it would somewhat match the uniform lines of the Tower as it goes up to the bell house. And it should look pretty impressive speeding down I-37 in contrast to the Dead Armadillo—I mean, Alamodome…assuming the land bridge isn’t built and hides the view anyway.

But I would love to see something more Art Deco-inspired, and more specifically in the practice of Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. Taking inspiration from the old Express News, the Post Office on Alamo Plaza and the Tobin Center with emphasis on murals, brick and tile work. Aesthetically that would complement well with the historic structures like the Women’s Pavillon, the Social Security Building and the John Woods Courthouse.

And I do hope in some way there is an acknowledgment of the Institute of Texan Cultures, like a Texas Historical Marker that explains what the building was and a simple photo of it. Perhaps even a small exhibit in the arena with little artifacts and such. Beyond that, I think it would be a great nod to install the “United Nations Plaza” with many different flags as the ITC once did.

A reminder of how far downtown has come.

Im very excited about Overland International as the leading architect behind the new Spurs arena.

They have experience behind some amazing sports facilities like At&t stadium, Sofi Stadium, US Bank Stadium, and others. Please please deliver on a truly unique and transformative design!!🙏🏼🙏🏼
