Glad that broke ground, the project was first announced in March. In the Bellwether District.

Surprised the Business Journal didn't have a write-up about the groundbreaking. The announcement below is from March.

Looks like it's right off Maiden Lane, off 76.

This is going to be so transformative for the city.

Will completely change the appearance of the city coming from the South approach.

I have a feeling we're going to have a drum beat of announcements for Bellweather. Something major every 6 months or so.

Yup, momentum loves company. It took a minute, but first DrinkPak and now TerraPower, this could potentially lure companies and manufacturing investment that previously may not have considered Philadelphia.

The Bell Weather district is huge. So if someone wanted to see where the new isotope building is located, where within the district would they go?

The location is shown in the link above. It looks like it's above Passyunk Avenue to the west of 76. On google maps they're showing a new street called Maiden Lane. I think it's there.

Interesting that the Inquirer has yet to report on this win for the city (or its buried in their site)... Meanwhile, when a Philly Wawa closes, the Inquirer reports on that faster than TMZ does for celebrity gossip....

As Bonduelle Americas searched for a site for its newest office, the plant-based food manufacturer looked at more than 20 cities.

The company narrowed the list down to five options: Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Philadelphia ultimately won out, notably because of its talent pool, robust food scene and access to nearby cities and existing manufacturing operations, Bonduelle Americas CEO Bobby Chacko told the Business Journal.

The company is subleasing 27,000 square feet of office space from audio content provider Audacy at 2400 Market St. for its “growth hub,” which is meant to ramp up the company’s marketing efforts surrounding new product lines and digital presence. In conjunction with the sublease, Bonduelle plans to hire for more than 100 new positions here. The company is receiving a $500,000 Pennsylvania First grant from the state.

This may be a hyper-local post but four houses have been torn down on 17th Street between Naudain and Rodman. When the first one went down, I didn't think about it; and it had a gravel vacant lot to it. The second was modified beyond recognition. But I was surprised to see recently these other two pictured below disappear as well. The form-stone one is meh, but the other was prefect. Does the Rittenhouse historic district protections not go that far south?

It looks like the district on average stops at Addison or Lombard.
I watched that happen as well and was pretty disappointed with the last few coming down. Even more annoying is each one seems to be the same builder but they didnt make an ensemble out of the replacements, including no consistent cornice line.

The city does really well in attraction for North American HQs for European companies. I think the reasons are obvious, as Philly feels like the most European city of any in the country IMO. I can't imagine that when you get transferred from a place like Paris or London to the US you'd like living somewhere like Phoenix, Nashville, or Charlotte.

These mini-Whole Foods actually have quite a bit of items, you can pretty much do a full shop.
Would love to see another of these open in Rittenhouse and Fishtown. They require 7k-15k sf of space.

Sort of surprised to see their first Daily Shop take over an existing grocer (especially one that's been there for decades like South Square), but I suppose they saw an opportunity and it saves on build-out. Agreed a location more in the core of Center City would absolutely crush, and as my username suggests, I would cheer for one in Fishtown as well.

Isn't riverwards any good? Or do you mean like a supermarket? I am surprised there isn't a whole foods or giant. Although heirloom was on market for a bit.

Riverwards and Old City Market are both surprisingly well stocked and compliment each other well. Throw in CVS and you're pretty much covered (though there are rumblings of CVS closing at some point when their lease is up). But you're paying top dollar. My wife calls it "Old City Mark-up."

Riverwards is awesome and covers a lot of categories for such a small footprint. It's expensive but there's no other walkable grocery in Old City. Mulberry has some stuff but not much more than a bodega, also overpriced. They do have beer though. Is 401 Market street first floor still empty after Wells Fargo left? That would be a good spot.

Produce at Riverwards is cheaper than most places, especially super markets.

That's what I go there to buy.

The beer prices at Mulberry are SHOCKING.
