That view may well be gone if there are several 25 story buildings in that parking area.

Yes, He certainly seems to have the knack of getting a project from proposal to under construction to completed and occupied quickly and efficiently. We could use more like him.

It does make you wonder why many other developers around the region don't seem to be able to do this? Are they undercapitalized dreamers?......... just inexperienced?.....treat sub contractors badly so they have trouble getting quality subs to work for them?......or just generally unprofessional and somewhat inept?

Care to elaborate???

I took a walk around there today, and noted that there is a large angled doorway on the SW corner of the Third Sister, facing the Gateway Towers site and the riverfront. This looks like it would be a grand entrance to a high end restaurant.

Also, I noted for the first time that the on site parking in the courtyard of the Three Sisters is all reserved for EVs and have pay-to-use chargers. There is only a limited amount of parking available in the courtyard, and I approve of this prioritization for electric vehicles.

Finally, There is still no evidence of active fit-up for the new on-site European grocery store. I still have no doubt it is coming, but they are taking their time. Perhaps they are waiting for construction to finish on the Third Sister.

I can’t say to much but I know of 2 confirmed food type places one beside Jemmy gourmet and the other facing assumption blvd. There has been several other rumours that I cannot confirm as of yet. I haven’t heard of anything in the corner unit like you speak of it would be really nice to see a nice sit down restaurant go there.

There has been one confirmed bar style place on the riverfront side at the gateway towers.

The grocery store has a very rough estimate opening month of July.

Very interesting.

I think the corner unit is begging for a sit down restaurant.

Yes, I've heard of a very prominent, deeply respected craft beer company that will be on first floor, riverfront restaurant w/ patio at the gateway.

Picaroon's???

Very well established Fredericton based brew pub with an excellent reputation, also with a location in Saint John (perhaps opening soon also in the Fundy Quay development). A location in Moncton would complete the trifecta, and a location in the Gateway Towers facing the riverfront would be similar to the suspected new location in Fundy Quay in many ways........

I forgot the name but it’s indeed a chain that comes out of Fredericton.

Picaroons actually has a very mixed reputation. They were the original Fredericton craft brewery and some still love their product but most people I know don't. Kind of a shame because the Roundhouse is an awesome location.

Anytime a brewery expands beyond a single location it seems automatic that the quality takes a hit. Over the years they kind of got lapped by other producers in the area (no one touches trailway IMO) but I see them now as more of a "brew pub" with decent beer more like a pumphouse. I dont go to pumphouse for their beer, its ok but I tend to go more for the vibe. Hopefully they can create something unique on the riverfront.

From what I can see online the new owners opened the "540 north" restaurant at the roundhouse and the reviews arent good, but their restaurant downtown seems to have good reviews. I wonder what gives.

I've never had issues with the food at 540 North. Not sure what's up with those reviews.

Soika and the Borsch House are coming soon to the building. They posted a story on Instagram tonight filming outside their spot in the building!

They have added a driveway entrance on assumption in front of the building. They also have a lot of the sidewalk and stairs done along the same section. Things are ramping up for them to finish this in June.

I would still love to see the NB Power substation moved, and a small building put there to add a bit of a closer street presence.

I think we all would love to see it relocated; it's totally out of place now that Mr. Lafford is transforming this neighbourhood.

Looking at the SNB map, the parcel of land that the sub station is on extends over to the Lutz Street intersection. There could be a pretty nice building constructed there and it would be a major improvement to the overall look of that corner.

Just wall it in with a living wall or something to match the surroundings.

They have installed the signage for the new Soika European grocery store located in the podium of the first sister. There is definite fit-up going on inside.

No signage yet for Borsch House, but, since these are affiliated businesses, I'm sure this will be coming shortly too.

I have just been advised by a trusted source that Cooperators Insurance may be decamping from their head office building on Record Street to "one of the CN buildings", presumably either 1222 Main or 1234 Main.

Although my source is trusted, the rumour is second hand, therefore this information must be treated with a touch of caution.

This property is located adjacent to the Three Sisters, and, the natural presumption would be that Lafford may purchase the land for expansion of their podium, possibly with a shorter tower. It will be very interesting to see what transpires.

Cooperators could fit in either 1222 Main or 1234 Main. I believe 1234 Main is only about 50% leased, therefore a move by Cooperators here would push this building towards 100% occupancy. a move into 1222 Main however would allow this building to be completely renovated so that it would be similar in appearance to 1234 Main.
