There is a fair bit of dirt moving on Mackinnon drive behind Sobeys next to the storage units in Stratford.

I don't think the Gray Group are developers, just land investors, who sit on the property waiting for the price to increase to sell at a profit. So much for housing, might as well setup a tent city.
Drove by their university ave property today, there’s a food truck setup on it. So pathetic.

Charlottetown City Council F'd-up Here:

City Council should be all fired over this. Total incompetence as far as I'm concerned. With everything against housing, the 500 lot fiasco, Nimbys & IRAC, City council not being on the ball, this is the biggest thing impacting citizens, the lack of housing, and this happens. Way to go, Council!

You literally said this after they approved it. You said this development might be approved but I doubt we’ll ever see construction.

ChatGPT would probably do better to manage this city than the Mayor & Council.

Urban Residences

Cement pumps are working at the fifth floor. It'll be interesting to see that pump going up to the eighth.

Do not forget that the two Gas Stations by the Roundabout in Sherwood would be just as close as the other gas stations

A traffic study was submitted to the city from Tim Banks for a McDonald’s next to BMO in Royalty Crossing’s parking lot.

I mean when they were looking for a restaurant for the mel’s on st. peter’s I’m pretty sure it was originally supposed to be a Tim’s instead of McDonalds. So maybe it will end up being something else. Hopefully Taco Bell!

I was thinking the same thing. The purpose of the traffic study is because council requires them to approve new drive-thrus, but the actual business doesn’t matter so much as long as they attract similar traffic volumes. Maybe these brands require a little non-disclosure until an official announcement is made, so developers have traffic studies done using a different brand name?

Stratford PEI Maps

I'm lovin' it!
It looks like Stratford is getting another MacDonald's!
The town received a building application for MacDonald’s Restaurant in the Sobeys parking lot. You can't get a milkshake at the McEsso, hopefully this full size restaurant will have a milkshake machine.
The new construction will also add some much needed traffic calming to the parking lot in the form of landscaped islands to improve traffic circulation.

That’s a terrible location, in my opinion. Bobbing and weaving through a parking lot to get to McDonalds…could work if there was a right in/right out and the intersection was a roundabout.

Winners is opening a store in Summerside, next to Dollarama on Granville Street. There was a Job advertisement posted for management positions which ended in April.

8-storey waterfront apartment causing concerns for some Charlottetown residents

CBC News PEI
by Tony Davis
May 7, 2026

Here we go!! First the design review idiots chopped off the only three bedroom apartments off the top two floors that are scarce in the downtown, and now the eight floor version is being attacked by NIMBYS. Anyone see this coming?!!
I think this will die on the fly. No permit has been issued so we'll not see this go.
Like I said, cruise ships come in there that are much larger than this building. No complaint on that!. Now its parking!! Make a parking lot would be a better choice! Maybe someone will make a song about that!

I think something has to be done to stop these people. It’s getting ridiculous, developers are going to give up all together if this doesn’t stop. Anything over 4 floors and the complaints roll in, it’s going to become unaffordable for developers to build because they won’t make back their investments.

There's talk of a Marshall's in Charlottetown. Truro has one, I can't see why it wouldn't be in Charlottetown. We have a Homesense. The three are owned by the same company, TJX.

I can see it being that the current Winners will be converted into a Marshalls after the new Winners store opens. Marshalls is the same as Winners but has a larger shoe department, "The Cube" (juniors' department), and a slightly higher-end, more curated, or sportier selection. Like you mentioned, all three banners are owned by TJX.
