What is "SaskToday" anyway? Who runs it?

Bell’s $12 Billion AI Hub Greenlit in Saskatchewan Despite Heavy Backlash
Austin Blake
massive technological expansion is coming to Saskatchewan after the Rural Municipality of Sherwood council voted unanimously Monday to greenlight a development agreement for a Bell AI data centre.

The 300-megawatt facility is a $12 billion investment in the region, though the approval took place amidst vocal opposition from nearly 100 protesters gathered outside the municipal office. Concerns over transparency and environmental impacts, such as noise and power grid pressure, dominated the conversation, according to CTV News.

Inside the meeting, which had restricted seating, Interim Reeve Ray Orb championed the project as a major win. “It’s in our lives right now, especially in agriculture and health care, and in the work municipalities do it’s very important to us. Data sovereignty is very important. We have a good opportunity here to build something and to us, it’s a success story for the province,” Orb told reporters.

Well the Costco is worth $1.2 trillion over time. Anyone can make up random numbers as long as it is over time? What time frame? One year, ten, hundred, thousand?

Just because the media report it, doesn't make it true mate.

Bushwakkers had a post about the big pile of dirt across the street. It will be used to create a berm between the yards and the rail line.

They are calling Mount Bushwakker. That's a good idea, not just for sound but also for safety for derailments and spills.

So the Cargill canola crush plant came in at about $1B. That slightly over the $350 million estimate! This tells us 2 things. The Viterra/Bunge plant is never getting built and industrial construction costs in SK are ridiculous.

I noticed this in the costs for SaskPower's latest Aspen gas turbine plant at Lanigan as well as their refurbishment of their coal plants which are crazy expensive. BHP Jansen is way over budget.

They are businesses and it has to make economic sense. They require a large ROI to justify the risk.

I am glad to see that they are continuing work on The Yards while the RFP is out. Hopefully that helps give the private sector confidence that the public side of this project can be executed.

Regina has a lot of very important RFPs either out or coming out soon, between the Taylor Field Land, The Yards and GM plant, but unfortunately no longer the RPL. It sounds like a proposal for the GM plant is coming out soon, which will be interesting. I don't expect the Taylor Field Land to struggle to get a few hundred units built with all the other investment occuring there. The super interesting one will be The Yards. I am cautiously optimistic that with all the public funds still remaining for that area's infrastructure, a group will step up with a solid proposal.

How realistic do you folks think these RFPs are and what are you expecting to see from them?

Construction begins on long-awaited second Costco in Regina

It’s been a long and winding road to get to a second Costco location in Regina, but it appears more free samples are ahead for the Queen City.

Construction equipment and trailers are now at the site of the new location in Regina’s Westerra neighbourhood.

Yes indeed it’s gonna be incredible. What they come up with hopefully when that is something that they had the $1.2 billion arena district for the yards are maybe a signature tower like the Calgary tower , the wow factor could be it and the in particular will go wild losing faculties

As for a central library, one of the only ways they could build it if one of the developers incorporate it into their high-rise and the library could use whatever funds they have one never knows
