Costco piling started today.

I also took a short video as they were wrapping up a concrete pour at the long term care site. The Mini 5 focus is not great with the 2x zoom on, cleaned it up a little with a sharpen filter. Could really use an optical zoom for those kinds of shots.

The RM of Sherwood is quite involved and even the RM of Edenwold and Emerald Park. It can only benefit the greater area.”

Hill said in addition to Amazon, there are a couple of projects he’s not ready to discuss yet at the GTH but said there will be new activity at the hub.

And a new industrial park is planned in the RM of Sherwood northeast of Regina, at Inland Drive and Winnipeg Street, bringing more land into the industrial market.

As for within city limits, Hill said redevelopment of some existing sites will benefit Regina.

https://www.sasktoday.ca/regina-today/re...-backs-bell-ai-data-centre-deal-12169945 What happens now

Before starting development, Rink said Bell has committed to extra testing of the site.

“We have test wells going in and some ground testing as a part of our ongoing work. We're testing the depth of pilings to ensure that we won't penetrate the aquifer.”

Once testing is completed, Rink said construction will proceed shortly after.

Rink affirmed Bell is committed to continuing community dialogue as the project begins ramping up.

On the RM’s side, Orb said the municipality is looking at communication programs to get more information out to the public.
Bell Data centre approved construction will soon begin

12 Billion dollar Data centre approved
They say clusters of developments are built around data centres so lots of jobs
Bell data centre “just the beginning”
The report stated that while the planned Bell Canada AI data centre in the Rural Municipality (RM) of Sherwood will have a limited near-term impact on industrial sales and leasing, it could be the beginning of a trend leading to more diversity in Regina’s market.

Hill believes it’s an excellent opportunity, pointing out that it’s an industry that tends to form clusters.

Stop saying it is $12B. It's $1.7B. I am glad it was a unanimous decision. Council and the people in the RM know how good this is for them. Even the immediate neighbours who had legitimate questions said they did not oppose the development. The protestor are all from the City and are either extremely uniformed or are protesting AI generally or other random favourite complaints like Land Back and big corporations.

So we should say the new pool is $2 Billion because of a supposed economic activity spin-off over decades?

At this rate there's not going to be a new pool and by the time they start construction it will be 12 billion

New Regina canola processing plant operational
Apr 21, 2026 | 10:00 AM

Cargill’s canola processing facility in Regina, Sask. is now operational.

The plant can process 1 million metric tonnes of canola each year. It increases local demand while allowing more of the crop to be processed domestically into high-value products, including oil for food and renewable fuels and high-protein meal for animal feed.

Cargill Canada President Jeff Vassart said the facility strengthens the company’s ability to connect Canadian farmers to growing global demand for food and renewable fuels.

“By expanding processing capacity in Saskatchewan, we’re creating more opportunities for farmers while helping ensure Canada remains competitive in rapidly evolving global markets,” he said.

Red Leafs billion dollar plant is set for construction this year

The site for West Oak's apartment building in Douglas Park is fenced off with some equipment on site. Got a few shots of the new firehall in the Greens. Lewvan Crossing building is moving again after sitting idle for the better part of a month.

What a terrible headline. Sask Today needs to fire their editor. Or perhaps hire one.

Construction costs did not jump by 50%. The value of building permits issued increased by 50%. Nope that's not right either:

Quote:
Information gathered from the city’s permit page shows roughly 530 building permits issued in the first three months of 2026, totalling an approximate $147 million price tag.

Compared to the first quarter of 2025, total construction costs have increased by over 50 per cent (roughly $71 million last year with 524 permits).
147/71 = 2.07, meaning that the value of permits issued in the first 3 months of 2026 increased by 107% from last year.
