When you think about it all, it kinda works out well that it was the Clayton Clipper that had gantry troubles, as it's the only one that's not passing through a station site (as Fleetwood Flyer built track segments to the east). That should help protect the overall project timeline as all of the stations can still be built on schedule.

BC Hydro starts major work on power infrastructure for SkyTrain extension

One of the biggest parts of the new Surrey-Langley SkyTrain line – getting electricity to the system – is now under construction.

BC Hydro announced on April 8 that it has started installing the underground lines and equipment necessary to power the 16-kilometre extension of the line from the King George Station in Surrey to Langley City at 203 Street.

Relocation of existing lines and utilities along the Fraser Highway is now largely complete, Hydro said in its announcement, so crews can begin building the rapid transit line’s power supply system.

“Expanding rapid transit is an important part of building a cleaner, more sustainable future for the Lower Mainland and BC Hydro is committed to supporting that growth and the investments that come with it,” said Charlotte Mitha, president and CEO of BC Hydro.

The work started in March, and includes infrastructure at the eight new stations being built, along with infrastructure to connect the elevated guideway to the regional electrical system. Power for the SkyTrain will be delivered through dedicated circuits from two separate substations to ensure reliability.

ccording to BC Hydro, while the work is designed to meet the needs of the SkyTrain extension, it will also strengthen the local electrical system and support future growth along the Fraser Highway corridor. Construction will continue in phases through November 2027.

“BC Hydro’s work will ensure this new transit line will have the dependable power it needs to serve Surrey and Langley for decades to come,” said Adrian Dix, B.C. minister of Energy and Climate Solutions.

There's no realistic funding scenario that sees SkyTrain extended to Abbotsford.

There's a Fantasy thread for a discussion of ideas like that.

Fraser Highway starts getting a little tight at 200th St. and by 203rd where the terminus will be Fraser Highway is an older tight commercial street. There probably just isn't the room.

is there a reason why the clayton clipper is moving at half the speed of the other 3 gantries? i watched the video from 2 weeks ago compared to today....the other 3 gantries built about 4 spans each and the clayton clipper built about 2.

They just loaded the self-propelled modular transporters onto flatbeds to be taken away so I guess there's no more steel beams coming.
