The steel isn’t required based on the length of the span, it’s a shorter span than the arched concrete spans on the Millennium Line over Hwy 1 and Brunnette Ave.
I’m guessing the choice to use steel was made to reduce the weight of the guideway to help deal with the challenging ground condition.
Based on the column design further west of Hwy 15 it looks like the a length of the guideway through the Serpentine Valley will be steel box girders, not just the span over Hwy 15. It’s back to tulip columns for the concrete box girder guideway beside the golf course.

The OMC4 guideway link are large curved steel box girders, so I was think similar here. Hope they build the branch switches, etc. now to mjnimize future disruption..

OMC4 has a rail yard and significant elevation between it and the guideway, the tie in for OMC5 here will be much less substantial. They may even be able to drop straight down to grade like at the Canada Line yard.
