Let me help you out since you're confused by your own remarks: I am a constituent voicing my frustration on how my council rep voted. You know, as someone who actually lives in the community.

I do love how every single one of your posts is antagonistic to someone else on this forum, tho. I don't think you've made one post that hasn't been combative in some fashion and me saying that is pretty wild because I can take a fairly combative tone too.

Hope you're not this miserable in real life lmao

I mean Boz location is set to “laughing at your TDS”. Says it all. Wouldn’t take anything he says too seriously, he’s just trolling.

I thought the hotel would be good on that corner. The traffic is bad there. But that’s true for a lot of hotels in cities. People figure it out. With the S-line extension maybe a portion of hotel guests wouldn’t have had cars anyways. The additional foot traffic would have been nice for the restaurants and businesses around there.

I feel like the traffic issue is an excuse to kill any viable plan. The city should focus on fixing the bottlenecking but let's be honest: any major development there is going to create traffic, whether residential, commercial or in this instance, hospitality. It worries me that this is their main concern because the only traffic neutral development would literally be nothing.

Funny that you thought I was talking to you directly somehow. Take it personal, much?

I have made several posts that aren't combative. You're just too busy clowning around to notice. Pull your head out. And again, I wasn't even talking to you in the first place. LMAO

I wasn't trolling. I posted a video that directly related to the topic showing that a lot of people came out in opposition. Y'all are soft as hell and yes, sometimes it makes sense to point it out.

It's not tall enough!
NIMBYS!
SLC isn't liberal enough!
SLC will never be cool enough!

Yes, I mock statements like this.

The traffic argument should be particularly disconcerting from an urbanist perspective as the best way to solve traffic would be to build TODs and walkable streets, which depend on density. Rejecting projects because they might make driving marginally more difficult, feels backwards.

Right. You were just yelling into the void of nothingness about a topic I was talking about but so silly of me to think you were directing your remarks at those in this thread, particularly me since I made two of the three posts related to the project (and one right above your post). Speaking of clowns, guessing Boz is short for Bozo?

Have fun with that.

Old Office Max set to become student housing as Cole West breaks ground

April 10, 2026 - Jacob Scholl Reporting For BuildingSaltLake.com - Full Article @ https://buildingsaltlake.com/old-office-...t-breaks-ground/?ct=t(RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN)

Quote:
College students in Salt Lake City will have a new place to call home in two years as developer Cole West broke ground on a new development in the East Central neighborhood on Thursday.

Construction on Chapter SLC at the site of the old Office Max at 900 E. 400 S. is well underway. The big box store was demolished last year is gone.

The mixed-use building will consist of 252 units and an overall capacity of 696 beds. The project aims to draw in college students from the University of Utah. The building will include a handful of ground-floor commercial spaces that will be open to the public...

The guy with a clown avatar is calling me... a clown? Bwahahaha

You are so weak, dude. I can read it all over your sad posts. The likes of a sad, sad clown.

If I am going to say something to you, I will quote you directly. Your post had nothing, zero, to do with my response. But you had to expose yourself as a lame because you think you're important.

Kiss my ass, clown boy. Oh, and have fun with it, or something... LMAO

I posted a link to a video detailing the hotel city council vote. Go back and take a look for yourself. A clown thought I was talking to him and was hurt by it somehow, and here we are. I don't think you understand the definition of a troll.

This is the response I received for posting the link about the hotel:

Boz is the only person I've ever put on my ignore list on this forum. Seems I continue making the right choice lol.

Glad that project at the old Office Max site is moving forward. At one point I was trying to keep track of big box stores, strip malls, and fast food places that got replaced with better developments. I haven't kept up, but unfortunately it's still not enough.

Hopefully the vacant 2.5 acre Big Lots parcel on 200 S and 400 E is next! Not to mention the old Sears lot on State street. ugh

Since visiting the area over the last eight years and now living here for the past 18-months, I've had to adjust my expectations on a lot of projects based on how I think people will vote and protest. I thought the hotel was the ideal development. However, it does block the mountain views from everywhere northwest of it and we really need to protect those view. Case in point, the rooftop from the downtown library. I was so glad to see nothing over 4-5 stories blocking the view when looking SW. Eventually, the views will become a bigger issue as downtown builds out. I don't know what should go there now, I thought a brewery, and a few 1-2 story retail establishments, but I am sure that would get shot down too. I wish sometimes, the city would have a better alternative in mind prior to nixing everything.

Salt Lake County mayor shares more details on Salt Palace remodel

https://www.ksl.com/article/news/politic...-details-on-salt-palace-remodel/51484214

Quote:
SALT LAKE CITY — More details are emerging about the reconstruction plans coming to the Salt Palace Convention Center. Salt Lake County recently announced it has now hired all the teams working on the billion-dollar project.

KSL sat down with Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson to learn where it goes from here.

The big plans for the Salt Palace all line up with the creation of a new entertainment district in downtown Salt Lake. What that means for the Salt Palace is massive construction, renovation and redesign. So take a good look at Salt Palace now because come next year, it won't look the same. Wilson said the county has big plans for how the Salt Palace fits into the Smith Entertainment Group's concept downtown.
...

Quote:
"The facility is sometimes not bought out completely because people want a ballroom, and if one group is using that ballroom, it would prevent another group from coming in. So, by building two ballrooms, you can have two major conventions at once, and that's better for the bottom line," said Wilson.

But with less square space, where does a second ballroom go? Wilson said the only way is up, likely above the existing ballroom.

"Right now, we're expecting it to go higher. So the people who are enjoying the ballroom can have some incredible vistas of our city," she said.
...

Quote:
Here's the timeline of things: The mayor expects the new Salt Palace design to be public by the end of the month. The county hands over the sold portion of the Salt Palace to Smith Entertainment Group in February 2027. Demolition and construction is expected to begin soon afterward.
I am looking forward to the updated design. Removing the 'back of house' look along 2nd West and more than doubling the height of the existing center are the only known items now. If do wonder if they are still planning to open up 1st South to both vehicle and pedestrian flows.

Exciting times ahead.
