DB Urban Aqui next to Cinq

DB Urban's new building, Aqui, is going up next to Cinq, just to the west of it. Someone should pull up some renderings.

Isn't Aqui on 400 East?

I think it's named something else ... but I can't find a rendering at this time.

Did anyone find out anything more about this? What I came up with is an inference that dbUrban is going to restore the current historical structure and build apartments around the restoration, much like the Cinq.

So if being next to Cinq is the case, then perhaps they're going to add structure above and around those two small historical two-story structures. Sounds like it could be a great project.

Has anyone noticed dbUrban's rehab work on the historical 'Cindi'?

S.L.C. East - The New Sky Highland Townhome Project - Highland Park District - Nearing Completion

2895 S Highland Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84106 - By Axis Architects @ https://newskyhighland.com/gallery/

Description: 22 Townhomes

LEASING SPRING/SUMMER 2026

The Highland Park neighborhood to the east of Highland Drive is a highly desirable location, but the price point of the single-family homes in the neighborhood makes them out of reach for younger families. Axis Architect's Highland Row development is a project made possible through the recent extension of the CB Zone and provides a housing option that was previously atypical for the area, but which fulfills the goals of the CB Zone: to allow for the integration of medium-impact commercial spaces and the adjacent residential zones.

'Axis' design does more than simply provide more affordable housing options in the area, however. Each spacious 3-story unit, intuitively designed and afforded a number of highly desirable features, including large windows, private porches and balconies, private garages, flex spaces that can be used as home offices or additional living spaces, engaging views, and rooftop decks on select units. An additional public amenity space on the east side of the property that includes a gas grill, gas fireplace, a variety of seating options, and a ping-pong table helps encourage a sense of closeness and community for residents.

US Forest Service moving to Salt Lake. Let the speculation of where and how much space they may occupy.

Not much space will be needed if you look at how the BLM move to Grand Junction Colorado went as a case study. The BLM move lead to mass resignation, loss of leadership, organizational chaos and dismantling of the BLM. I would expect similar results for the USFS given the BLM case study and insider information I know. So my speculation is a few cubicles with desks at most.

On another note I’m excited for the WGU renderings. Should be some decent height hopefully. Does anyone know the status of SEG and old post office building (remind me the name of this development?)? Also curious about the Intermountain hospital timeline.

Entertainment and Convention District updates should come out later this year. The Salt Palace updates should come out later this summer, SEG should also be providing updates around the same time. Demolition is still slated to early 2027 for the western section of the Salt Palace.

The West Quarter, things shifted with the economy and now the updates with the Salt Palace. Depending on changes, we may hear something at the same time as the Salt Palace update or shortly thereafter.

For the Forest Service, the move is also part of a large revamp of the organization. This means that there is a chance more people will move at the higher levels. From the sounds of it, they may not need too many people in the HQ, maybe around 50 - 75 or so people. This lowers the overall impact, but they could still be a contributing factor to a development. With spaces for potentially frequent meetings, I can see them needing maybe 3 or 4 floors of a standard office building at full staffing.

I think that they will start temporarily, with a smaller area, maybe within the Federal Building downtown. With the potential for multiple meetings bringing people from the regional offices to the HQ, they would want to be located near a hotel or 2. Having a location along Trax also works better as it limits the need for rental cars.

My ideal spot for them would be as part of the Power District. This would provide year-round activity to the planned hotel while also providing a decent tenant for some of the planned office space.

The "reorganization" of the forest service is closing all of the regional offices. The proper term would be a dismantling, or maybe a gutting or an execution. Part of Trump's crusade to destroy everything good that this country has ever built.

I fear you are right. I work directly with the USFS and the general consensus is that this is a dismantling. We’re fooling ourselves if we think the USFS will fill up several office floors as the result of this. Look what happened to the BLM.

Anyways, thanks Makid for the other development updates. Will be cool to see SEG get going.

You know what's deranged? Starting a war, leading to inflationary and interest rate pressures that reduce tower development in SLC. I'd also mention the loss the loss of life in Iran, but that would take us off topic for this thread.

Those rooftop areas are legit. I'd live up there during the nice weather months. Especially if you had a mountain view or were on the other side and could squeak out a skyline view.

The council rejected the hotel proposal for 1300 E and 2100 S. So happy! This is so much better than some crappy hotel!

I don't sense any bit of sarcasm from that comment

What was their reasoning? I think it would be great to have something there like that with a restaurant on the ground floor that opens up to the park. It was probably all the SugarHouse oldtimer NIMBY's that stopped it in its tracks.

It was the whole council. They all voted no. Traffic concerns and height concerns.

Oh, it's such a pity that the council voted along the lines of the concerns of the people whom they represent that actually live in that community.

Yes, I'm sure 1 midrise hotel would have dramatically increased the amount of traffic in the area compared to what it already is.

Isn't this the SECOND hotel the council or commission has denied at some level in like a couple months? Surely one of these could have been approved as both were great locations for a hotel.

What about the Olympics? Don't we need hotel rooms? If a parcel immediately adjacent to I-80 and 2 major thoroughfares-also adjacent to Sugarhouse CBD-cannot handle the traffic demands then where can..? They are right that 13th is awful at rush hour yes, but I lived near 13th e/13th s for years and commuted along it and I still think traffic is wayyy worse near my current job in Utah County lol

I was so adamant against the state's power grabbing at Salt Lake's expense ... but now I'm writing them all to do more and to expand the scope of it... this is just incompetency and self sabotage by SLC
