I don't think it's too bad. I'd have liked to see the podium shorter and the tower taller. Compared to new builds in comparable cities across Canada I see this one as being at least average.

It just looks like a taller version of everything else being built in the city. Not terrible not great. Initially I was hoping for something a little nicer in such a prominent location, but it is what it is. Maybe the cladding will make a difference.

This one is approaching the finish line - the sidewalk barriers have been taken down and there is an open house coming up on Dec 18.

The lobby/restaurant space looks pretty swanky in the video at the link you shared. I'm surprised. It feels higher-end than the exterior suggests to me.

Not if they are smart. There is a tremendous amount of competition in Halifax for great dining especially with the addition of the newer waterfront selections.
I met folks from Thunder Bay, Toronto and Montreal this past Summer that visited Halifax just for the food.

This building has been occupied for a few months now. They just installed some public art at the Willow Tree corner. I immediately think of a dandelion at the end of it's life. What do you guys think it's supposed to be?

Many years ago, our do-gooder HRM Council banned harmless weed and feed "for the children" as one Councillor proclaimed piously during the session, leading to almost instant dandelion infestation throughout the city.

Might have been the cancer risk as well. Read some of the MSDS for this crap and tell me if you would like to mix it in with your morning coffee. Kids and pets playing in the grass absorb this stuff, adults as well, and it's not good. Not good stuff to breath in while it's being sprayed either. No debate necessary.

Further, I thought that HRM dropped this bylaw many years ago. Walk through any neighbourhood with lawns in the spring/summer/fall and you will see signs warning about toxic lawns...

And still, to this day, it completely puzzles me why people think that a dandelion growing is such a problem! Talk about priorities...

Which is why I don't do that. Similarly, I don't give my morning java a shot of gasoline either.

There are lots of things humans should not consume. That does not mean you ban them all. As it is, they still get used by lawn care companies, as long as they post those little signs on the lawn. Whew, what a relief.

When you are trying to have a nice lawn and it is 90% unwanted weeds, that is why. No different than repainting over or removing graffiti vandalism on your house. Also why the weed-free lawns in the Public Gardens get treated with similar chemicals, although that seems a closely guarded secret by HRM the Good.
