ABC Vancouver obviously in full panic mode and now pretending to care what residents think now that the election is just over a year away.

^^^This.

I am shocked that such a small showing of angry residents (<250?) would cause an in-process installation to be canceled like this.

But alas - election season starts now I guess!

Oh well, I have no animosity, its time to say goodbye to it.
They should now just scrap it and if the artist does not want to see it scraped, send it back to them, as tax payer, I'm willing to pay for that shipping and handling cost.

There is now a counter petition to counter the art NIMBYs and support installing Trans Am Totem in the Granville Loop.

I suggest that the people running the "for" campaign offer to have it in their neighbourhood.

Except for the people in the Westbank tower it seems like whining about nothing with the overgrown trees that are going to keep growing.

We have a nice courtyard for it here at Anchor Point, I'll make a proposal at the next annual strata meeting
This is the reaction I would get at the meeting

And that secluded lane in front of those condos on 5th is going to become a full on street with the final version of Granville Connector. Hope they enjoy that.

And you can see how the Westbank tower isn’t even oriented towards that area! I hope they cut down the big trees which no doubt tons of pooping birds ( apparently one of the whiner concerns).

That's not going to get rid of the bird poop "problem" there.
(...if it even is a problem).

Anyone who walks through there frequently knows they have a preponderance of geese that like to nest around that area from as far as the Creek, and during the rainy periods specifically, the area is a mess of goose poop.

The 'Bird poop' nonsense was just a convenient excuse without justification considering what already happens there.

Canada Geese are a menace, they should go too.
Looking at that photo its hard to believe anyone would see much of the artwork given the height of the trees.

How about install it at a scrap yard out on the highway in the valley someplace where it will fit in.

That's a good suggestion, now every time I go to Mitchell Island to dispose of my concrete and slurry, I'll be looking for it to pop up at one of those scrap car lots.

Given what I saw last time I went through there, the so-called artist NIMBY should be more concerned about tent cities spoiling her view than the sculpture. I guess she'd rather have people poop in her park than pigeon poop.

I don't think they get to decide. They just send those recommendations to the city for the final decision.
