I'm surprised there is no stair next to that escalator (as shown in the plan below).
Could be to prevent shoplifters escaping downstairs or just to prevent shortcutters to the mall.

The ground floor plan also tells us where the Tenant 1 demising walls will be,
inserted in blue. Bigger ground floor than Aritzia!
Tenant 1 has an elevator at the back corner (shown on Aritizia plans)
but needs escalators.
I still think that Tenant 3 (Simons?) should have an entrance from Howe St.

PS - there's active construction building the Tenant 3 No. 731 entrance corridor.

I wonder which unit would Uniqlo take

I think they're installing escalators for all the units.

Seems like it'll be another six months at this rate. Maybe early/mid September

I wonder when they plan on starting the rezoning/development permit process.

You'd think they'd try to get something in before the election like everyone else is doing…

I doubt they can push anything through this year and it's either a hotel or hotel/residential right in the middle of downtown so I doubt there's going to be much pushback on this even from the biggest NIMBY in the city.

Renovated mall ceiling.
Pics by me today.
I guess there are slats to come and the wavey chandeliers seem to have been kept.

Current pics from Google search.
Looks like they are getting rid of the wood - making it more sterile.

Scaffolding going up next to the 725 Granville main (?) entrance next to the Canada Line station exit. I assume they are opening it up for the new CRU entrance.

735 Granville CRU got its permit Contractor seems to be connected to Axxys Construction

Same numbered company (3469051 Canada) shows up on the new Arc'teryx Robson store. In the past they did Mackage in the mall and COS on Robson.

They've done Abercrombie & Fitch, alo, Arc'Teryx, Aritzia, Armani Exchange, Athelta, Banana Republic, Best Buy, Browns, Canada Goose etc.. so it could be any big retail player. They did a bunch of Uniqlo locations.

That would be cool if it were Uniqlo.

BTW - Based on signage on the door, I think that Aritizia will consolidate its various brand stores at Pacific Centre into the new store.

Pics by me today:

Has CF even applied for anything to replace the hotel, or is it just demolition and revisit in a decade operation?

No development application has been published yet. That doesn't necessarily mean CF haven't been talking to the City about what could replace the hotel tower with. They haven't chosen to share anything yet, but they generally prefer to operate that way. We still only have Aritzia as the confirmed tenant of the former Nordstrom space, but three other future tenants have apparently been lined up, and designs submitted for at least one of their stores, without those tenants being identified.

^^ I assume they'll need a rezoning if it's mixed use?
