Connor Hellebuyck Reassures Jets Fans He Won’t Ever Play That Well Again

Just minutes after Team USA goaltender Connor Hellebuyck single-handedly won an Olympic gold for his team, he sent a message to reassure Winnipeg Jets fans he won’t ever play that well again.

“Certainly not in the playoffs, anyway,” said Hellebuyck with a chuckle. “I mean, it’s doubtful we’ll even make it that far this year anyway.”

For some reason Hellebuyck only plays well in the NHL regular season or when minding the net for Team USA.

“Gotta pick your battles, amirit?” said Hellebuyck. “40 saves in one game? Gotta save that for games that really matter.”

The Jets are planning to allow Hellebuyck to wear his Team USA jersey for the rest of the season just so he plays half-way decent.
