The (other) Great Unconformity! Apparently I'm not the only one who practices drive-by geology.

For what it's worth, I believe in that area near Arnprior you're probably seeing Ordivician rocks overlaying much older Precambrian rocks - almost a 1 billion year gap. Not quite the 1.2-1.3 billion years at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, but still pretty impressive.
