I was mistaken in my earlier post about the CCW project. The Perimeter has a design speed of 130 km/h in that section. Found the document where that's referenced:

http://conf.tac-atc.ca/english/annua.../mcritchie.pdf

Page 18 of the pdf has the specs I'm referring to.

So I can imagine the 101 and 100 Design Studies call for the whole highway to be rebuilt to a design speed of 130 km/h, like in Ontario.

I do wonder if they could have flattened the curve of the highway by just expropriating the Petro Can/Humptys and shifting the Perimeter slightly and maintaining the current PTH 3 alignment - rather than what seems like a more land-hungry project that is coming up quite expensive. I'm sure that was considered during the design study though.

There is officially activity at the mcgilivray/100 interchange! Reduced speed signs and the entire field is cleared of snow. Maybe hydro relocation? Progress nonetheless!

It’s hard to say that area where the current perimeter highway is prime land for restaurants, stores, apartments, condos, etc. it might actually benefit them. They’ll be right along the offramp exit.

They just need to put up a U.S.-Midwest-style high-mast sign that you can see for miles. 😂😂

Yes we need more of these haha! Same with the blue attractions signs showing restaurants at each exit. Ontario has them!

When you don't have to pre-exit on the highway, there's not much use for those blue signs! You can just hang a hard right at the traffic signals! lol

Does anybody know if that is true, as making changes to highway locations and elevations to that portion may impact the cost of the project?
South Perimeter was a last line of defence for Winnipeg if the Morris River had back flowed into the La Salle River. Brunkild Dike was temporarily beefed up with anything they could find, including scrapped vehicles. The Z dike has since been permanently built up.
