I was just curious what the theoretical output of a data centre was in relation to the waste water recovery. I mean if the credit is just towards the data centre building and none of the other Main Street Alley campus then I guess they'll just be donating the free heat

It seems that once in a blue moon, Vancouver having a separate building code comes in handy.

Vancouver officials identify 50 unoccupied ‘problematic properties’

A Vancouver city staff analysis conducted in connection with the creation of a new bylaw to address safety concerns over unoccupied buildings has identified at least 50 “problematic properties” that need to be addressed by city departments.

The location of the buildings and the state of them are not listed in the staff report that went before council in December. But staff said they would benefit from a co-ordinated response to prevent them from falling into further disrepair.

“Some of these buildings pose substantial risks to public safety and health, including infestations, compromised structural integrity, faulty electrical and plumbing systems, increased fire hazards, and the potential to attract illegal activity or unauthorized occupancy,” the report said.

“When left unmanaged, they also place a significant burden on city resources while removing housing stock and delaying redevelopment.”

Development permit

1527 Main St (DP-2025-00793) development application

https://www.shapeyourcity.ca/1527-main-st-2

They got rid of the more brash green treatment on the podium and a lighter gray (?) on the rest of the tower.

Does this fall under the False Creek Flats plan, or a pre-emptive rezoning under the Vancouver ODP? There are overlapping plans for this area - TOD Plan/False Creek Flats Plan, and Vancouver Plan (ODP).

It would be beneficial for the area to build residential between Station Street and Main Street. I am not sure if the City is still taking the False Creek Flats plan under consideration still. It's kinda old now, and nothing much has happened under that plan.

Edit - The Vancouver ODP colour map shows that area as Industrial still, except for the thin strip along Main Street, between Industrial and Terminal.

It's the SE False Creek plan/Secured Rental Policy/Vancouver Plan/TOA from the rezoning

It's so damn funny that the floorplan on that website is a scan of a printed copy!

So boneheaded too that they're on the market now instead of waiting.

4th floor at $1,847psf is aggressive!

Sorry misread the floorplan page. I guess it doesn't show the available/sold units. Only 601 doesn't have a floorplan (?)

They said they did 8.7 million in sales for the month last April..

The City development proposals at Burrard & Pacific and Main & Terminal are both up for public hearing referral at next week's council meeting.
I'm a bit surprised, I assumed all work on proposals would stop since council denied the City the ability to build and operate for profit residential buildings. I guess they just want to get the rezoning complete and go from there.
