I guess that won't make sense until Albion is a bit more of a place though.

Steveston-to-Ladner, though? That'd be a sick little boat ride, between two really nice places. I'm into it.
Something like the Aqua Bus between Steveston's Fishermans Wharf to Ladner Wharf would make for a great heritage transit route. Start off with running it whenever Ladner and/or Steveston have events like May Days or Canada Day or Ladner Market days.

While we're at it, let's add the Aqua Bus to the compass network

AquaBus and the False Creek Ferries can't handle the current from the Fraser. It's why New West's Q to Q ferry is a larger boat and not one of those small ferries.

The greatest downgrade in a project ever has been the Steveston Interchange.

On that note, rolling the QtoQ into the compass network doesn't sound bad, either.

Seeing as all the proposals for a pedestrian bridge keep getting shot down...

The city has approached TransLink a few times, TransLink isn't interested.

I wonder if we'll see any protests when the inevitable clearcutting of Deas Island starts.

Is that a strawman? When's the last time we had a protest over clearing land for a road project?

Or a protest for clearing land in the suburbs for more sprawl.

People setup a camp to try to block the SFPR back around 2010. My hippy-dippy ex went to that. What a pointless gesture.

Diagram for the new Steveston interchange.
Note the placement of bus stops.

Pretty rough looking design. Cycle lane doesn't continue over the northbound exit onto Steveston Hwy, and overall putting on-street painted cycle lanes is outdated design for a modern multi-billion dollar project, really should have just gone with multi use paths for everything here if they were going to cheap out like that. "Sidewalk" median for the bus stop on that exit also seems to be really skinny for a fairly major bus stop. I'm guessing the east side MUP is what will connect with the tunnel's central MUP. It seems like the transit lane just comes out of mixed traffic for the bus stop, that's actually worse than the current HOV lane setup, and really defeats the purpose of having dedicated transit lanes in the tunnel. So many things wrong with this design.

What a load of… Terrible design for cars, terrible design for transit, terrible design for bikes, and terrible design for pedestrians.

Why even waste the money doing this?

Another major rebuild awaiting 5 years after the tunnel opens…

Clearing parkland even temporarily will surely rile some feathers. Mature trees will have to be axed. A third of the park will be cut off from the public as well. I'm just wondering if the general public in the area is aware of what's to come. Not that I'm against it at this point but I definitely would have preferred the bridge as originally planned built instead.

The NDP always underbuilds infrastructure. Though realistically how many cyclists use that area other than lycrabros out for their weekend Tour de France cosplay?

While not being urban there's a sizeable neighbourhood of townhomes within easy walking distance to the island and I'd bet it gets used quite often by residents.
