IAD: 7200/9000 = 80.0%
Those numbers are completely in alignment with -7.5% for September.

First WS flight of the season to PVR and first AC to PUJ (the southbound was listed as full in the AC app).

There was also an event with Porter at YOW today as the first two sun routes inagurate tomorrow (PVR and NAS). CUN, LIR and GCM will all follow next week: https://www.flyporter.com/en-ca/about-po...t+of+five+sun+routes+from+Ottawa+2025+12

I was surprised to see LIR’s peak frequency at daily. That’s the first time ever for a sun route from YOW to be daily. I imagine PVR & CUN in winter 2026-27 will be daily too.

Today's departure count: 76

Sun flights count (both transborder & international): 15 - that’s a single day record

AF is back to daily for the next three weeks over the holidays.

AC889 on Friday was 13/20 J and 16/21 PY. AC888 was 13/20 J and full in PY.

Today's AC889 was 19/20 J and 18/21 PY. AC888 is 16/20 J and 20/21 PY tonight.

Today also sees the fifth weekly CUN flight for AC come online. They are pretty much up to their peak schedule, except for the fourth FLL beginning Dec 22.

AC's inaugural YFC and YQM flights are today. On the other hand, AC's YTZ service is now suspended until January 5.

YFC-YOW starts today as well, with YQM-YOW starting tomorrow.

Looks like for now YQM will be on Jazz, with YFC on PAL.

Indeed, although looks like for the summer both will be PAL.

I really only want to comment on this quote

That 05:00 departure time, while being ungodly, is great to catch something to interior BC or the Island.

I could be in YCD - Nanaimo by 08:30 am local (44 min connection - AC's min time in YVR is 40). Or YQQ - Comox by 11:00 am (I usually fly WS via YYC for this route personally in past, post-covid summers). Also YXT - Terrace by 9:34 am.
It's a great flight for BC connections... not sure what else it hits, but flying it O&D would suck unless you need this for local Vancouver meetings (fly in, fly out, same day.. i.e. AC341 out, AC346 in)

As of June 18 they move it to an 0510 departure which kills that YCD connection. Another reason Porter should launch it as a direct flight

Noticed WS671 YHZ-YYC went through YOW yesterday and WS761 YYT-YYC is inbound to YOW today. Maybe tech stops for fuel? Looks like the jetstream is particularly strong - westbounds over Northern Ontario seem to only be going about 650 km/h over the ground.

Don't see it on the FIDs, either.

Sounds like tech stops. YYT-YYC is a longer flight than YYT-LGW and YHZ-YYC is the same distance.

The new YQM flight with AC doesn't have a gate assignment, while YQT this evening is on the FIDS as gate 11 instead of 13B.

Inaugural PD CUN flight departed earlier and the inaugural LIR flight is later this morning.

AC889 is full in both premium cabins this morning. AC888 this evening is 16/20 J and 19/21 PY.

Not too shabby - and that's with five AC flights currently suspended over the holidays (4x YTZ + 1x YYC) and PD's sun network still coming up to full strength. I'd imagine in January we'll start routinely breaking the post-2020 records.

No LHR flight tomorrow - the LHR-BOM flight that YOW shares the slot with is running for an extra day.

I recently learned that sometimes the aircraft flying AC888 YOW-LHR does the next leg to Mumbai - BOM as AC856 (on the B788). Even though AC856 originates in YYZ as YYZ-LHR-BOM.

For example, Dec 12th's AC888 (C-GHPT) did the leg to BOM afterwards, as did yesterday's AC888 (C-GHPY), currently doing AC856 LHR-BOM.

Interesting to see the dynamic on how AC sells tickets and rotates aircraft. Imagine buying the one-stop AC856, but the YYZ-LHR cancels but the AC856 is a go from LHR-BOM because the aircraft came from elsewhere.

I wonder how many people on a given AC888/889 are doing YOW-BOM with the LHR stop this winter. Certainly well-timed for the connection, I think last year the YYC-LHR flight continued as the fifth-freedom flight, but all three markets should be well-timed to connect to it regardless.
