-2C with a wind chill of -8 and mainly sunny this afternoon. Finally we have a normal mid-December day.

Low of -6C (wind chill of -11) last night.

The warmspot was Maple Creek, SK at 13.5C. That temperature was achieved at 1AM with the help of some very gusty southwest wind.

Warmest low was Entrance Island, BC at 8.5C.

Hopefully. There should be a proper dump of snow up there by the end of the week.

It woke me up. I had to shut my window to prevent rain from blowing inside my apartment.

+5C and mostly cloudy in Moncton at 10 AM

A bit of a warm-up for the next three days (up to +11C and rain on Friday). This should melt our sparse snowpack, but, there is more dirt expected on Sunday with a rain/snow mix expected and temperatures of +2C

Crazy to think the Banff hills are having one of the best starts to the season they have ever had, and could quite possibly be the very best ever. We have more snow now than we did pretty much all of last year! Climate Change is a funny thing, mostly negative but every once in a while it delivers the goods

The warmth in Kamloops is nuts, thought Southern Alberta Chinooks were the only way for a 20 degree day in December!

Blizzardy here today. Storm Started at about 7:30am but ending now around 4., Expecting 2-15-20 cm maybe more.

Highway 2 North of Calgary was closed a large pile up. TransCanada in Sask is closed. TransCanada in BC was closed.

Ski hills are getting dumped on. 30-40cm the last few days. Even Jasper is getting it now. Everyone From Kamloops east are showing 30-100cm in the last 7 days. Friend was up at Sun Peaks, says snow is good. So no snow on the hills west of the Interior.

Looking at the Traffic cams the highways look slick but not much snow.

The sun managed to make a prolonged appearance today which was nice. The rain is back tomorrow.

Some snow fell on the North Shore mountains. Much more to come.

We've fallen almost perfectly into a pattern of alternating days of nice, mostly clear weather with some sun appearances; and then a day where it just pours rain from morning til night.

Tomorrow: Rain
Today: Sun
Yesterday: Rain
Monday the 15th: Sun
Sunday the 14th: Rain
Saturday the 13th: Sun
Friday the 12th: Rain
Thursday the 11th: Sun
Wednesday the 10th: Rain
Tuesday the 9th: Sun
Monday the 8th: Rain (I think?)

Glad the crappy December has turned a corner. We've had snow on the ground for a couple weeks now and it'll be gone by the end of tomorrow. Last Wednesday it was wet snow and I should have shoveled when it stopped at night because the next morning it froze to the asphalt. And I spent way too much chipping away at it and spending probably $15 on the good salt. Learned my lesson.

So... a month ago I bought some 2022 used winter tires that look new. 95% tread left on them. A week later I dropped off my car to get those installed on my steelies and the mechanic calls me and says the first tire is leaking. Then he says 3 out of 4 have punctures in them. Like the same size and location. As in it was intentionally done.

I bought them from a guy in a house just off Lakeshore. Like a $3m house. The guy wouldn't scam me from his house surely. Anyway, I drove them to his house, knocked on the door and he said he was baffled. He said they came off his inlaws' car. He gave me back my $400.

I ended up buying some mid tier tires new for $636 all in to get it over with. My previous winter tires lasted 10 years and had lots of tread left, but they were dry rotting. And of course, the day before I scheduled to get them put on it actually snowed and I had to drive very carefully and slow. Since I've had them on for the past six days I actually haven't needed them and doesn't look like it for the rest of the year.

Well that was a bust, Our big bad blizzard petered out by 4pm. got about 10cm of snow here was some drifting but plows were out right away to keep roads open. By the time rush hour came the roads were in decent shape and the traffic was light. Took 15 min to do my driveway and walks. Was hoping for more snow but any will help. We were supposed to get more snow last night but nothing. Now the temps crash for a few days.

We are supposed to get down to -32 Monday night now. Looks like Christmas may be + temps.

Had so much rain the last few weeks I had to thaw out the snow blower before it would work. And I will have to replace one battery , but it still works with 1 and a bit.
