I am not exactly sure how they are awarding the "Part 2" or when. Strange award process on this one.
Interesting. So they'll do the southbound bridge only. For $18 simolions. Maybe the overall cost was much higher than expected. If it's $18 mil for one bridge. times 2 for both bridges. Let me check what the budget was.

D3.3 Part 1 – 2026 City Funded Works will consist of:
(a) Southbound bridge structure rehabilitation
(b) Mobilization/Demobilization (Part 1)

D3.4 Part 2 – 2027 City Funded Works will consist of:
(a) Northbound Bridge Structure Rehabilitation works
(b) Overhead Sign Structure
(c) Southbound Lagimodiere Rehabilitation and Widening (Grassie to southerly construction limit)
(d) Southbound Exit and Entrance Ramps Rehabilitation
(e) Northbound Lagimodiere Rehabilitation (southerly construction limit to approximately 20+800 and from approximately station 22+000 to northerly construction limit)
(f) Northbound Lagimodiere Rehabilitation and Widening (from approximately station 20+800 to approximately station 22+000)
(g) Northbound Exit and Entrance Ramps
(h) Lagimodiere Active Transportation Path Construction (Reenders to Ravelston West)
(i) Concordia Active Transportation Path Construction (Molson to Peguis)
(j) Concordia Rehabilitation and Urbanization (various sections)
(k) Mobilization/Demobilization (Part 2)

It was always going to be a two year project split by N and S lanes.

If I remember the budget was between $40 and $50m so it seems to fall within those parameters.

The pricing. I thought budget was around $40 million. PCL bid was $40.5 million. I wonder what the hold up is. Maybe they'll award it when the City budget is approved.

Ya its' weird because all the roadwork is 2027 works. So they'll rehab the bridge and not the roads or anything. Also the cost just seems off. Maybe the southbound bridge needs more work than the northbound.

The st Anne’s interchange better get rolling soon I can’t imagine waiting 5 plus years for that to be constructed. It’s a nightmare from pembina to st Anne’s currently with all the clueless left lane hogs that refuse to move over in peak rush hour. when you glad your brights or honk they think you are doing something wrong! As there are 20 plus cars behind just as p***d off.

The province needs to put those slower traffic keep right signs in many locations that should have them, but don’t.

Mcgillivray definelty has a lot of property acquisition. They're working through that now from what I hear in the news. But ya the 4+ years timeline does seem a bit long I'd agree.

I'd bet St Anne's will take a bit to get rolling based on the Mcgillivray sched. One after the other is my expectation there. Like ive said before, really hoping now that Mcgillivray is moving the north perimeter program will get going on an offset schedule. Ie interchnage construction start at say pipeline in 2028.dare to dream.

It would be great if the province could build a SE Rail Bypass for CP and CN/CEMR to avoid having to build a rail overpass North of McGillvary. Also too, it would link to the CP Glenboro Sub which already has a bridge over the Assiniboine, which makes kinda saves the cost already.

WSP said they explored that option when designing the South Perimeter and it wasn't financially worthwhile.

I think they even looked at rerouting the rail line to the future Wyper Road interchange that'll be needed once that quadrant of the city starts filling in more.

Maybe the cost/benefit will tilt in favour of rerouting the rail line in the future. I'm not upset the rail line isn't getting addressed with the McGillivray interchange, it's so infrequently used and when there are trains there, they're typically short.

If the rail relocation study ever gains momentum, they'll look at something like that as a bypass right from east to west.

Currently 19 properties in the expropriation phase for PTH 3 and PTH 100, offers have begun to made to these property owners until all property is acquired. Once that is completed they can move forward with construction phases.

Last edited by Flatland Metropolis; Dec 2, 2025 at 10:43 PM. Reason: Noted that the 19 properties relate to the PTH 3 interchange.

Project is starting in March regardless, but probably not on unacquired properties, lol. Preferred Proponent was officially notified on the 21st. The numbers were crazy on this job. Crazier than on the St. Mary's overpass. But I heard that the low bidder was on budget. I wonder if the expropriations could slow the schedule down. I hope not.

RFP for Detailed Design on the twinning of McGillivray inside the Perimeter to essentially Costco is currently out.

On Merx? Cant find it.

I was thinking about this in relation to the interchange. Will they build the second bridge structure for the twinning? The drawings below show the all the twinning as future. But now it's all coming together at a similar timeframe.

https://www.gov.mb.ca/mti/hpd/pth100/pdf...ned_functional_design_roadworks_plan.pdf

Or they just tie the twinning into the lanes at the proposed bridge and call it a day.

It is in the Private section of Merx. Because it is to Pre-Qualified Consultants MTI does not consider it an open project.

Either way it closes Jan 9, 2026.

Hopefully the city shells out to twin the remaining 500 metre stretch inside city limits by Fort Whyte and the church at the same time so we don't end up with a weird orphaned two lane piece.

Forgot about that part. The MTI plans just tapers back to 2 lanes prior to city limits. One could assume the City would pony a few million up to do that.

Here's hoping. Though I recall there being similar two lane stretches for a while on McPhillips and south Lag for years after the province twinned outside city limits.

The new Buffalo Crossing vehicle loop is directly in the path of where the new lanes would go. They could probably squeeze the lanes through with a narrow median. Not so good on the planning front here. There's also zero room for service roads through this zone.
