Right now there are 14 slots available, on the Canadian side to the UAE. Air Canada and EK work together so they will work off the hubs if there is an expansion from that side. Everyone in the middle east wants Vancouver. There are certain days there are more Canadians on EK and Qatar out of Seattle than Americans.

They can codeshare but they can’t work together without a joint venture. I think AC’s dropping of YVR-DXB had more to do with the roundabout route AC needed to take to get there vs loads, thus rendering it uneconomical, not to mention the payload hit to cargo.

Yes this is likely the main ask from the UAE. It will be traded for some ag exports.

With AC announcing 3x weekly summer seasonal YHZ-BRU today, I think that bodes well for YOW getting at least one additional AC summer seasonal route to Europe in the coming years.

And once again YOW gets shafted by AC. I guess AF really is the only option for Europe.

Or is it more a case of YOW's time on AC will come once they have a bunch more XLRs on property as YOW-BRU on a MAX wouldn't be very doable?

Time will tell. YOW-FRA's return you'd think would be a given but would anything beyond that happen would be the question.

I think YOW’s time has long past, we have been waiting for years for something like BRU but AC has decided to launch it from a city of 400k instead of 1.5 million. From the degree of shafting YOW has seen, anything beyond FRA would be a total shock to me. It is very hard to believe all this TATL from YHZ will be full, but heck I’m not the one working in data analysis so what do I know. TS is going to be YOW’s last hope most likely. I will be waiting to see if anything develops from them before booking for summer 2026. If not, AF it is.

Speaking of AF, the Ottawa Aviation FB page posted that we may see some different aircraft over the holidays. I still see 772s loaded through early January, but there's a fair number of 77Ws sprinkled in after the service drops to 4x weekly.

I see them loaded on 11JAN, 14JAN, 16JAN, 18JAN, 23JAN, 30JAN and 13FEB.

Of note there, the 30JAN flight appears to be the configuration which includes four "La Premiere" seats (first class), 58 lie-flats in business class, 28 premium economy and 206 in economy. The F seats don't appear to be actually available (they show up on the seat map if I make a dummy booking but show "Seat Unavailable" when you try to select them, whereas typically it shows "Seat Occupied" if they were already booked), but interesting nonetheless to see that config show up.

Today's AC889 was 11/20 J and 11/21 PY. Tonight's AC888 is 16/20 J and 17/21 PY.

On the Porter front, looks like NAS has been reduced to its original 1x weekly on Saturday - a lone Wednesday flight appears to remain on DEC24. GCM has also seen the Wednesday flight dropped so it's down to up to 2x weekly (I believe this is still +1 weekly to what was originally announced). MCO and FLL have also seen some modest reductions in late January (MCO is as low as 10x weekly and FLL as low as 11x).

Correct GCM even if back to 2x weekly is still +1x weekly from the original announcement. MCO and FLL less-than-double-daily during the January doldrums isn't surprising given the huge drop in transborder demand. With AC also adding NAS, I'm not overly surprised...especially before they set up Porter Escapes 2.0.

An Air Transat A332 is due in from Riga, Latvia today around 16:15.

No doubt a Government (Defense) charter. Canada has lots of folks stationed there right now.

I saw there was a YUL-YOW-RIX flight last evening as well.

I would also like to know where this info comes from, but it seems like a closely guarded secret here on Av Nerd SSP

The AC info is available in their app within 24 hours of departure. You can view the business and premium economy "upgrade list" which shows the number of seats sold/available. For economy it just lists "full" or "available" on their app.

You can do this for any AC flight.

This I was aware of, I meant more which flights and air frames are loaded on a given day. Could scroll through FR24 YOW departures but that seems tedious so I wasn't sure if there was a better way.

AC889 today was 14/20 J and 16/21 PY. AC888 is 19/21 PY and full in J.

Nice to see us already at 84 on a Friday before the winter schedule really kicks into gear. Next Friday will see the first NAS flight on AC, and a second PD FLL flight as well.
